I'll be keeping my analogue divers watch, thank you. Way more stylish, and tough.

Hate to ben negative but this was Apple's chance to release something big to keep them as in innovator, i think they have really lost it.  That watch is awful and the rumours of it having to have an iPhone close by to be fully functional is no better than what is already out there.

I will be sticking with the pebble. Its all about the battery life for me and getting notifications.

Given how much they dodged the question the Apple Watch just cannot beat the pebbles battery life and has to use a bunch of tricks like turning off the screen to even just get a day/2 days on a single charge.

It looks like a Nano with a mechanical wind-up mechanism :)

I suspect it has Bluetooth, but I did see a comment that it required wifi and gps on the phone to do some [location] tracking stuff, which I don't really mind.

I'll probably investigate getting one, mainly because I have an interest in Natural User Interfaces and there isn't really all that commercial stuff on the market yet.

Update: Did anyone get the U2 music yet?

I expected more from Apple, to be honest. The design, for me, is fugly. Key for me would be battery life, but the silence on that at the announcement probably speaks volumes. Only thing I can see that really looks promising is the HR sensor, which is hopefully an advance on current ones, which in the times I've tried them are very lacklustre.

So now that everyone has played their hands in the smartwatch arena it looks like Pebble is, after all, where I'm headed.

Software screen shots look extensive, though pity about the hardware. It's too fat. Battery is probably suspect (although magnetic charging looks easy) - last thing I want to worry about is having two devices on a daily basis.

The crown reminds me of the BlackBerry click wheel from 2005. The things which are important on a smartwatch are: battery life, daylight readable-always on display, waterproof, easy recharging. iWatch 2 will probably come with these breakthrough advancements next year.
