clicknz: Hi - I don't quite understand which unit you're referring to. AFAIK the type of wall charger that is supplied to charge iPhones or iPads is very different to the units that charge laptops. iPhone chargers could either be a blocky unit with a 'missing section' where the various options of power point prongs are inserted, or a small compact rectangle unit with fixed prongs - which output 5W, or iPad chargers are the blocky two-part units that either output 10W or 12W. Laptop chargers seem to be from 45W to 85W from memory.
Personally I haven't had any of my numerous Apple iOS device chargers misbehave... but I have had cables that have been abused fail, plus (as above) fluff & debris get into the ports that interrupt the connection.
