littleheaven: I'm interested to know what it means on the Apple site (which appears to be down at the moment) by "pre-order 12.9, available 25.9". Does that mean that if you pre-order on the 12th you'll receive it on the 25th? I hope so, because then I can take it on holiday with me.
According to http://www.apple.com/nz/shop/browse/popup/product1/delivery , yes. Assuming your postcode is on that list.

You WILL have it in your hot little hands on the 25th.

I had a flawless experience with the app. I've learned the hard way from US experiences that it's the way to go when it's available.
It went live at about 7:03 and was able to zip right in and secure the silver 6s Plus 128gb for delivery on the 25th. Got my confirmation immediately by email.
Was all done and dusted by 7:05.

FYI I believe apple may have changed their courier, the last few items I've got from them they've been delivered by courierpost, not tnt. At least that seems to be the case here in Napier

I rang the 0800 number and ordered from the lovely Nichole in Austin, Texas. Took about 25 minutes to complete the order, her system wouldn't allow her to add the new model to the cart but we got there in the end. I was her very first order of the new shiny shiny so we had a bit of banter on the phone which was nice.

Went for the 64GB 6s Plus in (not rose) Gold, plus AppleCare+... That's a lot of pluses...

She seemed to think that I would be in good shape to actually receive the handset on launch day but obviously she's not really able to say definitively at this early stage. She did say that I'd receive regular updates on the status of the order, dispatch etc.

Been trying to order from Vodafone. They are saying they will call me tomorrow at 2pm. Don't know why it's such a big deal to order a phone.

I got an email from the Apple associate I ordered from over the phone but not an official order confirmation/acknowledgement. I emailed her back and she replied with a pdf attachment of the order which indicates delivery on the 25th... She said I should have received it instantly, perhaps the exchange server their automated system is operating on has been poked by the traffic...
