Just interested to see what level of anticipation there is for the likely impending launch of the next iterations of iPhone next month.

I'll be upgrading from my recently sold 5S to one of the soon-to-be-released versions and have just in the last couple of days started to sway towards getting the Plus sized model. While I initially completely dismissed this as an unnecessarily large and likely unwieldy handset, I've started to see the virtues in a larger display, longer battery etc outweighing my prejudice.

What say you all? Any current 6 Plus owners care to weigh in on my decision?

And who else out there is keen to get their hands on one of the new kids on the block?

I'll be getting one. Haven't missed once since I got my 3GS back in the day. Probably going for the 6 plus this time. Got the 6 at the moment.

It's just an "S" release so won't be to much new or different. Force touch could be interesting.

Good thing about the "S" releases is there isn't usually to much wait to get hold of one. You could probably get one on day one of NZ release without queuing all night.

To be fair I do have an Xperia z3 for work which I really like too and it's a great device. My device history has been more Samsung than apple however not convinced with the Samsung offerings this year.

I'll be switching back to Apple and getting the 6S+ after being an Android user since about 2012.

I have the 6 in 16GB, got it on launch day.

I kicked myself a few months later because now I'm runnin out of space and want big big big!
When the new one launches I'll be upgrading mainly so I can get a bigger screen and more storage. Then I can probably skip the next generation.

Same here. Can't wait to go back to a iPhone after some awful android devices.

I have small hands and small pockets. Love the size of the 5S. I am hoping it will become a relic one day lol

16GB in a smart device these days is a bit of a joke, particularly those without expandable storage. Even with the cloud backup, once the operating system is installed there is bugger all room for much else.
I read an interesting article a while ago about the marketing involved in offering such a small amount of storage and what it boiled down to was Apple wanted to drive people towards the more expensive 64GB model. The markup for the extra 48GB was excessive thereby increasing their OEM margin. By not offering a base model with the industry standard 32GB they definitely drive people to upsize.
Not an iPhone user myself but may pick up a 6 for my wife when the 6S squashes the price.
For me the phablet sizes, be it an iPhone6(S)+ or Note 5, are just too big to be a pocketable phone.

Depends upon any improvements to the camera.  I have a 5S for personal use and a 4S for work.  The camera on the existing 6 takes fantastic photos, but looking for the next level before spending north of $1000.

The Applecare on my 5S expires at the end of November so I will probably get the next generation but I won't rush to get it as soon as it's released. This technology is starting to plateau, and I have some other financial commitments over the next few months anyway.

Re lag?

MR had a couple of long and heated threads on the 1GB, blaming that for Plus lag My Plus insem apps is smooth as silk, scrolling in others is a bit jerky. I put that down to CPU/GPU not memory. It has the same engine as a 6, 6 is smoother. If I cleared my ram, my Plus isn't any better. But more memory is a good thing.

Little lag here and there when pushed hard. Pretty sure the S has more processing power too
