Just went for my first run with the new watch. Left my phone at home. Streamed a podcast no problem and it synced my run from Stryd to Strava as soon as I finished battery drain for about 50mins of GPS and cellular streaming was 20%

Thats pretty good! can't complain at that. I went for a swim in the sea yesterday. made 3 calls and replied to a couple of messages. The funny noise it makes when you disable water mode is akin to a dog shaking after a bath :D

My Apple Watch arrived from Spark today. No issues with the set up, didn’t even have to follow the steps with activation as it all appeared to work straight from the box.

I had my Series 5 Watch arrive from Apple yesterday - my first one. Going out on a run is what I'm looking forward to. Maybe today.

My Watch is a Nike Cellular + GPS - but I won't be using the cellular part until Vodafone support it.

Really good to hear your experiences with the watch - what you use and what you like. Good write-ups btw @chris021

I've had every series since they first released. Even without cellular they're  great for running. The only real difference is that you have to sync music to the watch first and you can't be contacted (may be a good thing) and can't contact anyone in an emergency.

This is my first every Apple Watch, and I’ve been wanting to do it for a while, but the missing of changing back to iOS and the expense kept putting me off. The lure of LTE on my wrist was the thing to finally push me over the edge. So far I’m pretty glad that I did.

Mine also arrived from Apple yesterday. The process of activating it with Spark was so straightforward. I guess there were advantages in not being able to activate on launch day.

Would be great if Spark can emulate this UX for eSIM activation on iPhone itself.

As a blind person the thing that's really standing out for me other than the LTE is how much better the speaker is on the Series 5 compared with the Series 3.

Just out of curiosity, when did Apple ship yours out from China?

I'm still waiting on mine to arrive. Apple gave me a date of the 18th but haven't seen anything update on the tracking page since Saturday.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

Mine didn't come from China, just came from Sydney. I'd expect you will get a "shipped" notice around 6-7pm tonight and it will arrive tomorrow.

I believe it was Wednesday that I got the notification. Haven’t had that happen before, I usually get the notification and it turns up from Sydney next day.

I do hope the other major Telco in NZ manages to facilitate this - and, ideally the esim ability on iPhone too.

Good to know. The Spark store in Kerikeri don’t do a lot of eSims and couldn’t yet figure out how to do it for me. I have my watch eSim all good, but want to free up my sim slot for my Australian sim.
