DjShadow: Not sure if this has been mentioned already but the person on the Vodafone twitter account last night said outright purchases of the new iPhone will be available from Day 1

Id be bit cautious with this as Vodafone are only taking pre orders linked to an account plan and on further investigation they are only offering iPhone 6S & 6S Plus on there open $59 Plan and above not giving the option for there $39 open term plan which other telcos are allowing.

Any one who "pre-ordered" from 2degrees got a call back?

Just wondering if I'm the only one who is still waiting....

$1,200 outright for the 16GB 6s. That's an awful lot of coin for a phone with next to no storage, below flagship resolution, tiny battery and limited RAM.

Confirmation today that according to the information in XCode the RAM in the iPhone 6S is 2GB. iPad Pro = 4GB.

Link.

JEDENZED:
kawaii: I'll most likely get an iPhone 6S Plus and AppleCare then throw it on the 24 months interest free through Spark. It'll be interesting to see what the specifications are once there is a tear down by fixit or some other source.

Regarding a case, it'll be a toss up between either one from Pad and Quill or TwelveSouth with there Bookbook one.

This is what I did with my 5s a couple of years ago. My wife will likely want an upgrade once she has a tutu with my new one so may well go down that road for hers. She'll be after the rose gold though so I suspect she'll be waiting for a while for Spark to get stock of that...

I had a Pad & Quill Bella Fino for my 5s and a 12South BookBook for my 4S... loved both but just not sure about the added bulk on such a large handset (and such a difference from my 5s)

I went to the Spark site and decided just to get the iPhone 6S because I found the 6S Plus too big  - 128GB space grey and the Bookbook case is is ordered and on its way plus I've got fibre being installed in the next couple of weeks and El Capitan dropping on 30 September - Christmas coming early this year :D

As for the prices (as others have raise); the value vs. cost is all relative, what is seen as as expensive to one is value to another.

I have to say, not that impressed with my online ordering experience at Dick Smith. I ordered two identical 3SIXT Pure Flex cases and a Belkin Invisiglass screen protector. They sent me an order confirmation and charged my credit card. Sunday I got a shipment confirmation for one case, no screen protector, which arrived today. Nothing to say if it was a part shipment of the full order. Got emailed two invoices today for the single case, and no response to my online query about whether the rest of the order is pending. Going to call tomorrow to find out what's going on.

Edited to add: I've actually received three separate invoices, one for each item, so I guess the other bits are being shipped separately. Seems weird. I hope I don't get charged three lots of shipping!

I spotted a catch by chance looking at their Facebook posts, it seems you have to be on an current 24mth contract to buy the phones outright on Day 1

well the NZ dollar vs the US has dropped 22%, so its reasonable to expect prices to go up accordingly.

There is an option to buy it from Apple on 12 months interest free, and then use what ever telco/plan you want.

All of the telcos "plans" look expensive when you consider how little I actually use the Phone/Data/txts
so my next phone will be on prepay I think.

99% of my "data" use is on Wifi these days either at home or work.

The Marketing scam of bumping up the price by offering "more" stuff you won't use just annoys me now.

Its a phone, its not rare, it not once in a life time deal, so wait and save some money.

Cases and screen protector have now all arrived, in three separate parcels. Bizarre, but I'm happy to have them. Now I just need the phone! Order is still in the processing items phase.

You should be getting a call within 3 business days. Failing that, call them on 0800 022 022.

I Preordered at 7.10pm on Friday with 2Degrees, 10 mins after it became available. They called me the next day and got all the details and etc, and i paid the 29$ deposit. She said they will deliver on 25th on launch day. I just hope that they do actually deliver on 25th. Last year with the 6 Plus, Spark made an epic mess and delayed it by more than a month. I did preorder right when it went live, so hopefully il get it  by 25th.
