I ordered (from 2 Degrees online) a Pro Max 256Gb Space Grey on Saturday evening when the delivery date was still 'from 20 September'. I did not get the shipping confirmation and called 2 Degrees this morning to enquire about it. Got through to a very helpful agent who advised that as I had not received the shipping confirmation by now, it was most likely that I would have to wait 3-6 weeks for the backorder. I'll probably have made 2 payments on the payment plan by then.

It's disappointing that 2 Degrees systems were unable to advise this upfront, after all, they would have an idea of their initial order with their supplier. I noted yesterday that PB Tech had just 1 unit of some models in stock so low stock levels are not uncommon.

Has anyone who upgraded from an XS got an feedback on the camera? The thing that annoys me most about the XS cameras is the noise reduction... it makes my kids faces look kinda muddy(er) and they have fine hair so it turns into a blurry mess.

When I tried the Pixel it was much better and retained far more of the skin / hair detail... only the Pixel was kind of a poor phone otherwise.

Shooting in RAW on the iPhone then manually adjusting the photos back in Lightroom seems to fix the problem but it is quite a labour intensive process.

Keen to hear from actual users in they’ve fixed the over aggressive noise reduction on the 11.

So what are people's actual impressions of the phones? I upgraded from the X and Face ID is definitely improved (it was already very good on the X). Reception/general talking on the phone seems to me to be much improved but I am definitely not noticing the other-worldly battery increase that Apple has been hinting at. It is better than the X but not by leaps and bounds.

From what I have seen, it is really the cameras that have improved over the XS, and they do look very good. Apart form that, there aren't too many other improvements, which is probably why they stopped selling the XS, as it was so similar. This is a 'tock' year, next year should be the 'tick' year, where the form factor should change. Hopefully they remove that notch, and add 5G, USB-C , bilateral charging etc.

I moved to the 11 Pro from a 1st gen Pixel XL. I think this phone is excellent. Face ID is fast. Battery is good. Everything is speedy. Cameras are really good, though I'd like to test night mode some more.

My only criticisms are some small issues I have from coming from Android - the hardware of this phone is fantastic.

I'd imagine it not really being worth upgrading from XS. Maybe not even the X?

What are the issues you experienced coming from Android?  I've been using a Note 8 for the past 2 years, after using iPhone previously, and I'm considering switching back.  But I'm not really sure how many of the Android idiosyncrasies I've picked up are now common to iOS, and which ones I will miss.  Would be good to get the perspective of someone going Android -> iOS...

My issues are mainly the keyboard and app navigation:

The default keyboard doesn't seem to include periods and commas, nor can you just hold down particular letters to get access to keys like parentheses like I was used to on swiftkey. I'd swap to swiftkey, but then I lose some password integration (w/ Lastpass).
In terms of navigation.. I'm just not used to it. Back swipes (which sometimes accidentally scroll), and app settings being in the main settings 'app'.

These aren't major problems, they'll just take some time to get used to.

Interesting to hear about you're experience.

I'm switching from android as well, so may run into similar issues. Time will tell, sadly waiting on back order to get to try!

Is there actually anything to watch on it that does not require further payment? I got it too with my iMac but it just looks like an online video rental store...! What's the point of it?

I really enjoyed Dickinson and The Morning Show. Currently watching Servant. It’s a small catalogue but the quality is extremely good. You should be able to find the Apple TV + tab within the TV app. You get a year free if you qualify.

Hi there. I'm looking at purchasing a new phone. I currently have a OnePlus 3T, so a few years old. Right now I'm tossing up between a S20 and....iPhone 11. I'm not really someone who is integrated into Google system at all. I'm generally at home for work etc so all my music/photos can be stored locally, so in that sense moving over is fine. However, I'm wondering what I can expect for paying the extra $200 or so, I'd only need the 64GB base model. I'd mainly be using my phone for photos/video, gaming (Pokemon Go mainly), oh and screen recording is a big one for me. I guess longer shelf life, with security updates etc comes with an iPhone? I also like how the resell value of an iPhone is fairly close to what you pay for it, even a year or two down the track, compared to Android where you can "lose" hundreds. Anyway, just looking for overall thoughts, looking for a reason to pay the extra $200. Hopefully from someone who isn't Team Apple or Team Android/Samsung. Thanks heaps )
