IsThisOneGood: I'm in Hamilton

There's no way there'll be a queue in Telecom mid morning Friday

Probably only because all the available phones will have been sold by then. This time, as in all previous releases, there will be a few very happy punters and a whole bunch of unhappy ones because demand always outstrips supply on day one. Pre sales in the US started yesterday and there are reports of a two week delivery slip already.

IsThisOneGood: I already know Vodafone will mess something up with the iPhone 5 launch. (No stock, would not sell off contract)

But I do have faith in Telecom because I bought my 4S from them last year launch day, no hassles at all and OFF CONTRACT. Even came with a free sim.

I'm facing a conflict whether I should pre order from Apple on 21st September or just wait on the launch day and rock up to Telecom

I hope telecom offers it off contract

Order online first, then queue.. if you got yours, cancel it from online store.

Do you know when Apple charges the credit card? Like when it's shipped?

Could do that. Can't recall exactly but I think that's what I did with the 4S.

ONLY when it is shipped. That's what I did for iPad 2. Beside, Apple isn't shipping it the instant you order it.

Sweet. It's what I'll do then.

I'm betting when pre orders in nz go up it will have 2-3 weeks ETA.

So I'll place an order online... 28th comes and they still haven't charged my cc / shipped it I'll call Telecom, reserve a 5 them cancel my online order

It's interesting that Australia has TV shows available via iTunes. I always thought that was strictly a US thing, so I guess this means that TV shows are starting to spread internationally?

I don't think that ad is a fair comparism, and apple could probably do their own. Build quality for a start I think is higher with better exterior materials. The iphone obviously has a lot more features. eg the new panorama feature. Many of the so called extra features on samsung list, I wouldn't have a clue on what they do.

Panorama 'feature'? Do you mean the one that existed in samsung galaxy nexus since last year? Have you heard of Pano on android?

NFC (near field communication) - touch to pay eg: Snapper

Share shot - before taking photos, you can connect your phone to other phones. once you take your photo, this will appear in those phones connected to you

Group cast - whatever pic you view on your phone, will be seen on the other phone as well

Direct call
- you receive a text and want to make a call to that person. just put your sgs3 to your ear and it will directly put the call for you

Smart alert
- if you miss a call/text, once you pick up your phone it will vibrate to alert you

Tilt to zoom (self explanatory)

Palm swipe capture - swipe on your screen will take a screenshot

Palm touch mute pause
- you can silence the phone with your palm

Picture in picture - pop out the video, you can reply a text/browsing etc while having the video playing on the screen

Turn over to mute (self explanatory)
