Not really a fix though, because it will either crash at 30% when under load, which my phone is doing, due to them not slowing down the 5s, or it will be slowed down. The real fix is replacing the battery, which is essentially a repair job due to it not being a consumable replacement, and then making sure that future models don't have the battery issue. I wonder if the iphone 10 has this problem, as it has two batteries, and maybe they did that to prevent this problem.

@mattwnz well here’s the latest development, which allows you to turn it off yourself too (with a warning)

Still doesn’t ‘advertise’ the fact it’s doing it, so only through social media awareness/geeks would even know to look at this stage ...

I just upgraded from ios10 to ios11.3 yesterday.

I have iphone6. Think it's actually running a bit faster, feels a bit snappier.

With beta battery showing battery at 92% capacity. I think my phone is about three years old, so thought battery would be worse.

I charge every day and charge drops to 50% to 20% between charges. No option to turn off slow down so guess that hasn't been tiggered yet.

Only thing today is for my local wifi it kept saying password incorrect, I did forget wifi but still the same. Then reset network settings on phone, and it fixed it. Hope that's not a bug that keeps recurring.

Unfortunately this isn't offered for iphone 5s users using ios 11.3. Also not on the ipod touch 6th gen, which uses an A8 chip like the iphone 6. SO maybe that is becuase they use different batteries with the ipods which don't slowdown or cause shutdowns. I haven't ever had the shutdown problem with my ipod, just my iphone.

I hadn’t linked them, but am getting the same ‘password incorrect’ error recently too 😡

I wonder if it’s a new iOS bug, or simply the router... are you on SkinnyBB too?

I’m on Spark with the Hg659B router. I only updated IOS yesterday and first time error has occurred so pretty sure fault is iOS not router, how ever I did turn router off and on as well.

For iPhone it’s Settings, then general, then at swipe down to bottom and there’s a reset button.
Click on this, then you’ll see reset network. Press this and confirm, then phone reboots.

Once rebooted I reset up modem wifi settings on phone, and it started working again. I also turned router off and on while phone rebooting, not sure if that was necessary.

I got my iPhone 7 on the 21st of September 2016 and it has 97% battery capacity remaining.. is that pretty good for a phone almost 2 years old? I plan to have the battery replaced by the end of the year before the price of replacements goes back up.

I'm not convinced the battery health beta is accurate. My work supplied iPhone 6S is just on 12 months old and is showing 93% of maximum capacity. When it was new I'd still have 30-40% of battery remaining at 9pm after a day at work. Now it's down to 30-40% remaining at about 4pm in the afternoon.

You get access to that setting when the phone does an unexpected shut down.
Mine did it first time yesterday at 10% power.
I left the slow down turned on for now and so far my phone seems running alright.
Might think about that battery replacement so since it’s been activated, could make my phone last a couple more years longer.

My battery capacity is 91%

I deliberately never updated my iPhone 4, which is now about 8 years old, and as a result, it still works perfectly.

After 8 years, the original battery still has plenty of life in it and the phone responds instantly to all commands and gestures.
This is quite a contrast to my iPad 2, which has functioned abysmally ever since accidentally initiating an update one sleepy morning.
Prior to that update, the iPad worked perfectly.

I have a new iPhone, and I have deliberately filled all 250GB of it up with multiple copies of video files so that there is never enough available space to allow an update to occur.
I just delete a 500MB file every time I need more space.

My advice is: If you want your iPhone or iPad to last and continue to operate like the day you bought it - never do an update.

I was very surprised that it was not added. I am wondering if that will change with iOS 1 since they are adding so many more battery features to the phone at least.
