Is the thread copied from every previous year? Every year its the same, NZ gets a small supply. After release date there will be some of the extreme end (lowest and highest storage) probably, weeks later will be common as hens teeth

The all important question, will you be restoring from a backup or setting up as new?

Been contemplating setting up new, but call and message history isn't synched so would lose that by not restoring, so think I'll restore from backup

The case I purchased with the phone has just shipped, estimated arrival on Wednesday. So should be waiting on my desk when I get to work on Thursday (have tomorrow and Wednesday off) then hopefully the phone will arrive Friday morning.

It has been a similar story every year. It's all about building a demand. Also looks good when they sell out. So all about marketing. But the fact is no-one ever misses out on an iphone who wants one, they just may have to wait a bit longer.

Unlike windows, I can't see a need to "refresh" my build annually as both apps and the device upgrade fully every time they update... so there's no registry bog down to prevent?

I do however "swipe up" and close all my apps at least every other day, as these seem to do well with a fresh reload, and my safari pages seem to remain cached longer too!

I'm probably not going to buy one, but how long after release can you buy them in store outright? 3 months?

If you've ordered one from apple, you can check if you've been allocated one yet. it will show up under your products. mine is there.

You can buy them outright from Apple NZ whenever, or wait it out until they sell outright. I believe its usually a couple months before they do that?

Actually $1,514.85 with exchange rate fees etc. so $314.15 You wont get a flight to Australia for that then add in taxis, parking accommodation and other expenses then it is not a free trip, if you were planning on going over in a couple of months then there is a potential saving to be had, however technically you would need to pay GST of 15% on return to NZ so $1,742.08 not a lot considering the CGA doesn't apply and also as the goods have been exported the Australian CGA also doesn't apply, only Apples warranty. I admit that it would be fairly unlikely that you would have to pay GST if you lied on your incoming passenger card but this is all theoretical anyway.

Less than that from memory. They cant pre manufacturer this many millions of phones, so everyone gets a release stock. While I type this, they are building more stock every minute. I'd allow a month, as at some point there will be a large shipment due here. Plus they will monitor the sales figures, see what everyone wants and focus on that and less on the lower selling models, allowing maximum useful production for the shipments
