Hi All,

Not much chatter on here regarding the new iPhone all rumours point towards a 'S' type upgrade again this year.

I am interested in the following, and will be upgrading as this is in my resign window with Vodafone.

- Dual camera for the plus

- Possibility of 3 models (could be annoying as this could see a premium for the features I want)

- No headphone port (hoping they will supply a lightning to 3.5mm adaptor with the phone but not holding my breath)

- More water-proof, (will Apple admit they are working towards this?)

- 256gb version (don't need or want this but moving the teirs could make the 128gb cheaper, again knowing apple they may go 32, 64, 256 just to annoy us all)

I have to admit I am not "excited" to be upgrading and will only be doing so as with the rebate + resale of my 6S+ it is virtually no cost, however I will be getting in to work at 5am to watch the announcement!

So in theory this is a good idea to deal with the headphone jack.

However, although I am not a product designer wouldn't this have been better if it was the shape of an aa battery?

Rumours I heard suggest that the SS stands for 'super small' and the new phone will be half the size of the iconic Nokia 8210. It will come with a built-in stylus as the average human finger will completely cover the screen. The stylus will be made of nanoengineered antimicrobial LiquidMetal and double as a toothpick.

Apple will not support third-party modifications designed to add a strap, because they still want you to buy an Apple Watch as well.

really? Looks like something else to lose. My biggest problem is the car  Even though my car is 2010, it's got bluetooth voice only, not a2dp.  So have to plug in via 3.5mm - though the car has a 30pin plug - and annoyingly I can't run a 30pin bluetooth adapter as it never initialises.

Though currently have an old iphone 4 plugged into the car for spotify, but it's not ideal.

I don't need another "thing". I went Apple (5S) because everything just works without extra "things". Might have to go back to Nexus (or whatever it may be called) if they offer a one "thing" package.

I'd do that as well, but I think that'd be worse.  Android doesn't have a equivalent of the 30pin connector that was so popular lots of hardware was built for it.  Sure android can act as a usb harddrive and music could be pulled of that....but that wont work with spotify.  It's one gap (IMO) that android hasn't yet addressed.  And not likely to because how popular bluetooth is.

I don't often listen to music when needing to charge but I'd certainly like the option, having lightning end on headphones won't allow that.

There are some real annoyances to loosing the 3.5mm jack, I will be exceptionally annoyed if this is done in order to make the phone thinner, enough already it is thin enough!

If it is to increase the battery size then it may be a fairer trade off.

Does anyone know if there is a significant loss in quality using this kind of device?

I used to be an annual upgrader. I dont even care now. Ill no doubt keep my 6 Plus. Thinner, lighter, 2% more battery capacity, waterproof (I already look after my phone), and so on are just more mild incremental changes. But it will be the best iPhone ever. Which by definition is what you expect from the last model with at least one change.

Maybe they think by doing so you risk frying your brains so they removed the option?

Dunno, really I couldnt get past the ridiculous shape and thought that this solution would at least would keep the lightning port free for charging.

I have £15 bluetooth headphones from mpow - the earpiece is too big which means they dont quite sit right the weightpulls themslowly out of youear, the cord with microphone isnt quite in the right spot related to the previous complaint, the connection and pairing doesnt work every time first time, the battery life isnt amazing and the sound isnt brilliant.

But I am still using them after a few months and reach for them before other solutions because not having a cable outweighs those other issues.

If apple now releases wireless headphones key things for me will be the connection including strength/range, quality and ease (mulitple devices please), plus some smarts like passthrough ambient sound and noise cancelling.

I've never found BT iPhone audio very good. If they supported aptX it wouldn't be so bad.
