I’m interested to see how the max performs. With almost 1000mAh less capacity but 5nm chip, could be interesting...

Bought a MagSafe charger for Mrs Code’s iPhone 12. It’s not such a great device IMO. It aligns itself and attaches quite strongly - but that’s the problem. To detach it you need two hands - one to pick up the phone and the other to detach the charger. The temptation is to pull it off the phone by the cord - and sure as hell that cord/charger joint is not going to last long, like most Apple cables. There’s very little strain-relief there. You need to get a fingernail under the rim of the charging circle to detach it. It’s fiddly.

If you need two hands, I think a lot of the appeal of ‘wireless’ is lost - it’s easier to use a lightning cable.

Also interesting that it actually works better with my non-mag iPhone X. The phone and the charger don’t align themselves - but you can pick up the phone with just one hand.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

got my 12 Pro Max today, quite a big disappointment to find it does not charge on my Samsung Duo Charger. 4 hours on the charger and barely gained 1%.

I do have the magsafe case on so it may be interfarring, Apple support is very dismissive of this issue and I had to be very pedantic about to issue for them to even accept diagnostics.

Got the 12 pro max yesterday, eagerly waiting for screen protector and case before I do anything with it. First impressions were amazed. Not much difference in size to the 11 pro max. I love the colour - more of a blush, lighter colour. Will keep posting once I get to use it..

Made the switch to the Mini after returning the Pro. Wow. I am in love with this phone!

I enjoy finally feeling like I'm not carrying as much in my pockets, and the Apple leather wallet sure helps with that. The wallet fits perfectly with its body, and the screen quality is superb. Very keen to see the Mini line evolve and apart from battery, everything about it is amazing.

I saw one in the Spark store and quite liked the concept.

I'm a bit wedded to the stonking battery in my 11 Pro Max though!

Perhaps the 13 Mini (or 14 Mini if they decide to humour the superstitious!) will be enough to tempt me.

Hah, well they honoured it with iOS 13 and maybe it'll be the same with the phones.

And yeah, the biggest bane is indeed the battery, but I can live with it considering the state of the world right now. Even without that I almost always have a power bank or CarPlay handy.

What sort of battery life are you getting. I am still erring between the mini and standard 12, with my battery fear the only thing holding me back from the mini

I haven't had any problems with the battery on my 12 mini, though to be fair I haven't yet been in a situation that has me away from CarPlay or my desk for extended periods of time (eg. a holiday where I'm out all day – remember those?!).

It definitely isn't the battery champ that my 11 Pro was, but so far so good…

Yeah as above, battery is as expected. I'd say around the range of 4-5 hours screen on time with heavy use continuously. But with normal use it's lasting me a whole day.

There was also a software update just earlier that addressed some lock screen touch issues. I never had issues myself, but good to see apple is on it as usual.

Apple released IOS 14.2.1 today just for the iPhone 12's.  One fix is the stopping of not getting some MMS messages and for the iPhone 12 Mini it fixes the screen problem.

As I said it is only for iPhone 12's.

Hi folks, slightly OT. I'm wondering if there was any chance of the 12/12 Mini going on special this year? Quite keen on one or the other, and fairly sure there wont be a sale on them for Xmas/Boxing Day new years, but perhaps it has been in the past for previous iphones?

Cheers

2D is doing $400 off the whole 12 range on interest free (which you can just pay off in full sooner). I'm guessing there'll be more deals around, if not already.

Can anyone recommend a good screen protector for the iPhone 12? Or are they pretty much all the same?

Thanks

I’ve never bothered with screen protectors on my iPhones and they have all been fine.

my friend got a tempered glass one from the warehouse which has been fine on her 2020 SE. Was dirt cheap.
