And the answer is...

"We have not announced any pre-order mechanism for NZ. If this changes, I will keep you updated."

If you haven't seen this, it's worth a laugh while you wait for the real deal.

It seems at least one site jumped the gun and posted an early iPhone 5 review - linking to Google cache as the original is obviously gone now.

That's the post I was quoting. He mentioned the 28th for the Telecom launch but not for the apple online preorder.

My thinking was it'll be as it was in the US, one week prior to launch you can Pre-Order.

I phoned Apple NZ this morning and was told that they weren't doing pre-orders for the iPhone 5 and that they would be on sale online on the 28th. :(

I think I saw one of the news places say that Telecom will offer preorders from tomorrow, but take that with a grain of salt (after all, I may have read it on Stuff!)

Not sure if anyone has posted this already but Vodafone NZ announced on their official Facebook page and on Twitter (https://twitter.com/vodafoneNZ/status/248658869818097665) that they will be taking iPhone 5 preorders from 12:01am tonight on their website... I would imagine Telecom NZ will make a similar announcement soon.
