I have used both android tablets, and ipads, and would chose an ipad over an android tablet anyday, as better experience IMHO for most things, and far easier to backup and restore. But would choose and android phone over an iphone, mainly due to them being cheaper and having the same features.

So I'm guessing it will be NZ$ 1179 for Wifi model and NZ$ 1379 for Cellular model.

the quiet updates seem to mean that the iPad is not getting centre stage anymore (just like how the iPod classic line) 128GB is plenty big even for today's standards for a tablet device like this. I get by with iTunes match instead. Movies on an iPad is still small to be enjoyed.

vexxxboy: in the USA its a $100 more for 64GB more, which seems a lot.

$100 for double the space, in this case $100 for another 64gb, seems like a good deal to me. However when it comes to NZ and it turns out to be $200 to go from 64gb to 128gb, thats not so flash.

Why is that a good deal?

If you go to amazon and check the price of a 64GB SD card, or if you prefer, the difference between a 64GB and 128GB, more bits don't cost that much.

an SD card comparison is not a good comparison.  a better comparison would be a 64GB SSD versus a 128GB SSD in which case the US$ difference is more like $50

This is not a deal maker or breaker for me, I would not go out and upgrade to a 128GB Ipad.

I find the 16gb a bit on the small side, the 64gb would be as much as I would ever need in reality.

The way I see it the 128GB would be more about the Samsung Surface offering than anything Android is offering.
