sidders80: People always tend to forget that handsets from Vodafone have a 2 year warranty as opposed to 1 with telecom. So that's a great benefit for $20 dollars if something happens to your phone after 12 months.

"Frei Lefebre bought a $650 iPhone on a 24-month plan from a Vodafone store in Auckland. 15 months down the track, the 16GB phone suddenly "died", says Frei. "I couldn't receive or make calls or use the 'home' button."
Frei contacted Vodafone, only to be told the 12-month warranty had expired and repairs were no longer covered."

mattwnz: There isn't really any beneift, as you are covered by the CGA after 12 months anyway. I see business customers only get a 12 month one anyway.
clicknz: BTW - just to answer the original question (should it still be of interest) - there is no physical or connectivity difference between an iP 5 from Voda or Telecom.
I'd be very surprised if the 5 drops much when the next gen iPhone is released...
lxsw20: I'd guess they will do the same thing with previous releases and put it down to $900 or what ever the 4S currently is.

Gcaley: Thanks, maths is not my thing. All I want to know is if I can buy the telecom phone and put a Vodafone sim in it.
