Benjip: Have you jailbroken the phone? I don't think iPhone apps even have permission to make calls and send messages..

Very good question

Phone is definitely NOT jail-broken.
Is there a way to find out which app id doing it?

Ha well Telecom can get F*cked, I know it is probably not their fault but I rang to see what they would say anyway. I waited 40 minutes on hold for some stupid bint to not understand my problem then I got hung up on and no.. I was not abusive demanding or accusing.

If you google 'iphone sending texts by itself' you get plenty of results.
Either your phone has been hacked somehow or its something you have installed.
Either way it seems that a reset is the best bet and I have seen a few comments that its best to set up a new apple account as well.

Or remove any apps installed in last few weeks, and start adding them one at a time over an extended period... ie: install one, wait a few days, no issues, goto next one... repeat.

But full reset wouldnt hurt as others have said.

There are a few videos of iphones going crazy all by themselves as well - like someone has taken them over - On the video I saw the owner mentioned it had fallen in water at some point - so I think there was some damage somewhere. It was dialing and texting as well. Has it had a bad drop or water damage?

I have had it about 2 years, only water damage could be from humidity, had a couple of drops but nothing recent. It is in pretty good condition overall. I really don't think that is the problem here.

Not sure why you are getting angry with Telecom they don't control what you install on your handset and what ' Your ' handset decides to do,

Would you call TVNZ if your Smart TV started doing odd things?

Sure, you were not abusive. Somehow I don't believe it, reading your text above and expletive.

Actually, seeing this user has been repeatedly warned over use of bad words, the account is banned.
