Bugger you dropped your phone. I have heard of several people doing that not long after purchasing.

I don't believe there any replacement screens around at the moment. vodafone won't be able to help you on this one either sadly.

Only option would be Apple.

Hope you get it fixed, or replaced either way.

benmurphy66: Also check your credit card. My Global Plus card includes damage within the first x days (I think 90). You still have to claim on your home insurance but then they cover the excess cost. My wife did the similar thing to her iPhone 5, left it on top of a car and it was trash by the time I found it.


OT: Interesting (regarding Global Plus). How does one go about claiming that after contacted insurance for the claim?

Doesn't consumer guarantees say manufacturers have to carry spare parts for anything they sell?

As Peppery has already suggested, you could buy Applecare+ for your phone for $149 NZD. Seeing as you are still within the 60 day purchase period you should have no issues getting this put through, but as you didn't buy it when you bought the phone, this will involve a phone call with Apple. You will then need to pay the $119 for the service fee to get the screen replaced, and this will use up one of your two accidental damage incidents for repair/replacement under the warranty.

Otherwise you may be able to use an out of warranty service but this will be expensive. iPhone 6 service out of warranty is $454 NZD.

I believe with either of these options you can get an Express Replacement Service (ERS) - Where Apple sends you a new phone, you restore your data onto it and send the old phone back, no downtime (a hold is put on your credit card) for a $55 fee.

That ERS fee of $55 is rubbish. 

My 2 week old IPhone 6 plus has a loose screen (clicking noise when pressed) and i have to PAY to get it replaced.




No you don't. You only pay $55 to use express replacement. A normal warranty claim is free, you just don't have a phone for a week or so while they assess it and then send you a new one, like every other manufacturer does.

Are you syre this isn't a hold incase the damage was caused by the user to cover the assessment?


No it's a fee to use the express replacement. This is where they replace your phone BEFORE you send back the old one. A normal warranty claim, where you send in your phone, they assess it, and then send you a refurb/replacement is free. This is the same as most other phone manufacturers that I know about.

It says that facilities for repair and spare parts should be available. It doesn't say that they have to supply the parts by them selves. IANAL but I'm guessing Apple would argue that your broken phone is reprocessed and that they are effectively providing a repair service by providing a service replacement at 40-50% of the cost and not making you buy a new phone.
