JimmyC: @SaltyNZ Check out iTunes Match. $39.99 a year, moves all your music to the cloud. Will compare what you have with the iTunes catalog, replacing any lower def versions with higher def. Anything it doesn't recognise at all it takes a copy of. All your music appears on all your devices but you only download what you want for listening off line, the rest will stream. Frees up a ton of space, never lose a song\album again, and no more iTunes syncing... ever! Been using it for 2-3 years now, love it. https://www.apple.com/nz/itunes/itunes-match/

Yeah, I did do that once. Wasn't especially keen on having to keep paying $40 a year so I never renewed. But if it saves me from attempting percussive maintenance on my iPad it might be worth it.

Does that mean my two Australian born kids need a fight to the death?

Totally unrelated*: Anyone interested in securing the broadcast rights to a one off, no holds barred, last person alive, cage fight?

*Disclaimer: Possibly a little bit related

Mine haven't got their Aussie citizenship yet. But I'll get that sorted and then chip them in as well. I think you might be onto something big here.

Just for those of you that haven't upgraded to iOS 8.3 for whatever reason (jailbreak etc.) Siri is still able to now give local directions in NZ without updating. You just don't get the kiwi accent (which is terrible btw, as people here have pointed out tongue-out).

I am on 8.3 and it's doing a good job of understanding me but the local area knowledge is dreadful. From my home in Wellington:

- Where is the nearest McDonalds; didn't know.
- Where is the nearest public toilet; didn't know.
- Where is the nearest supermarket; it gave me the nearest dairy which is probably an acceptable result.
- Where is the nearest petrol station; gave me directions to another dairy which has no fuel facility.
- What is the population of Picton; gave me the population of Picton, Ontario, Canada.

This needs some serious work before if will have any semblance of usefulness.

I'm surprised it couldn't tell you where the nearest McDonald's is, I've had no problem with that in Auckland.. But yeah Siri is definitely still limited in terms of usefulness in NZ, although much improved since it's beginnings.

I've just tried it in Christchurch and it was a bit better. Maybe it just has a problem with Wellington!

Couldn't find the nearest Macca's in Christchurch for me. Luckily for me, I don't need Siri to find it....
