Hrm.. Its a product. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Nobody is forcing you to.

Certainly don't wast your time and bytes moaning about it on the internet.

IMHO the iPhone 4/4S design is one of the most beautiful ever, and certainly iconic with its simplicity and materials. The iP5 is similar (not quite as striking.)

Also I can certainly appreciate that some people want physically smaller technology. Remember how cells phones were 'progressing' before smart phones?

Also for beginners 16GB is enough (thinking about my 70+yo Father and similar). Even a young workmate never had issues with his 8GB iPhone, used mainly for email, social media (facebook snapchat, viber), web browsing, making calls, taking photos. All the geek overload here skews expectations of technology significantly.

The simple answer is it is all about keeping things simple. You may note that Nexus devices do not have SD card slots for the same reason. The original 128k Macintosh was not expandable, it was designed to be an appliance, not a computer.

The user does not have to worry about where something is stored, it is just "on the phone".
You don't have to worry about incompatibility or poor memory device performance.
You don't have to explain FAT32, SD, SDHC, SDXC, classes etc
The phone is a fixed unit, no removable battery, no sd-card, it's a simple product like a toaster.
If you want more storage, then iCloud is the offered solution.

If you think having an SD card is the most important, or even if price is your most important factor, then perhaps Apple is not for you.

I must say I find comments like that puerile, patronising and insulting. It says people who buy Apple products are stupid, naive and easily manipulated. What utter arrogance! I get that you don't like Apple products - fair enough. But why do you feel that need to give vent to your prejudices in such a manner? I don't go around in Samsung forums making snide comments about bloatware or the fragmentation of Android and saying people are stupid if they buy into that ecosystem. Do you also go into various forums on high-end watches, letting people know they are stupid for spending so much money when any watch just tells the time? Do you think people are stupid if they spend money on a nice time-piece? People make their own decisions on what they buy and cheap comments like yours need to be called out for what they are.

Yes, Apple is an expensive option. But read how many times people have had their Apple devices replaced without question by Apple when there have been issues. Apple support is fantastic. Yes, you do pay for it - freely, willingly and gladly. If you can't see that, then that's your problem and no-one else's.

Don't assume I'm some Samsung fan. I'm not. I don't even own a cellphone, by choice. Choice is a wonderful thing.

Sure, an iPhone is a toaster, but even when you go from a 2 slice toaster to a 4 slice toaster, which involves a physically larger device requiring more materials, they only charge a small amount more, not $200 more for at most a $30 increase in price of parts.

I'm not arguing with the rationale behind their design, I'm just amazed that the market is so enthusiastic about such an obvious rort - its nearly as bad as the price of printer ink.

Are the memory modules that Apple use internally, better/faster than your module you linked above as the OS needs runs on the same module?
Although, you are right - it shouldn't cost that much more though.

Their excuse, I'm sure is currency exchange - although that's a pathetic excuse.

I don't see what's wrong with bringing back an old design - aren't the trendy people flocking back to flip phones? Or was that 2015? I can't keep up. For me one of the most annoying things about new i-devices has always been trying to find a decent case for the new dimensions. Unless you want to buy the Apple ones (which have never appealed to me) then there's usually a couple of weeks of wrapping the thing up in a cloth while you wait for the 3rd-party manufacturers to sort themselves out. I carried my iPad Air around in a little fleecy sleeping bag until I could get a Speck case I liked. At least with the SE there's already a bunch of cases available for it.

Having said that, 16GB does seem a bit light on storage these days, when a single app can suck up more than 1GB and 12MP cameras take bigger and bigger images, and it is hard to justify the cost difference between the different storages. But that's Apple. Don't like it, don't buy it. I shelled out the big $$$ for the 128GB 6S and how much am I using? Less than 30GB. Huh.

Check out this rort. We hear about the Apple tax, where Apple overcharges for their phones, as they can. My first was a 4S, I recall the 4S 16GB was 1049, the Samsung 16GB equivalent was 999. (maybe have been 1049 vs 1099) Anyhoo, a 50 buck difference. So if Apple "taxes" us for their high quality metal build, why does Sammy charge the same price for plastic?? Thats the rort. Then they drop prices 200 2 months later. They are rorting the most loyal users, thats a bit of a slap.

Yep, lack of class and manners. and pray tell, what would happen if any of us Apple users (who often use MS, etc as well) began namecalling the Samsung devices and what they are often made of? But that happens little. Maybe we have a bit more manners, and a bit less need to be worried and concerned about other devices or to fret over it?

[Said post is not reflecting on non Apple users, justthe vocal minority from either camp]

My wife has always had the smallest because she didnt use the phone that much... until she got into her photos in a big way. 16GB fills up VERY fast.
