Why not?  All the reviews I've read of them say the sound quality is excellent.

Because most reviewers have no clue about what sounds good?

No need for you to be negative if you havnt tried them. To tell me that I have no clue about sound is not called for.

When walking the dogs these wireless ones are all I need and desire and for the price are reasonable value. When listening elsewhere I choose higher quality earphones, but seriously man, no need to be rude.

Way to take exception to something clearly not about or aimed at you...

I was a reviewer, which is what this thread is about...

Its not about you, why do you have to go and make it about yourself? Its about the 100s of youtube "reviewers" that do absurd crap when reviewing headphones like hold it up to their microphone and say "WOW THAT IS SO MUCH BASS THESE PHONES ARE PUMPIN" and other crap. They give them good reviews because they got the crap free, they want to keep the free crap coming so always say good things. Looking at unbox therapy as a prime contender for doing BS reviews.

I see that the Apple NZ site quotes delivery at 6 weeks. I have had my doubts about these however I am looking to buy an iPhone 7 Plus next year and will certainly look closely at the AirPods and compare them to other bluetooth offerings. If they are up to the standard of other Apple products they will be very good.

unbox therapy used to be just unboxing stuff, now look at his 'office space'...

I haven't tried an extensive amount of wireless headphones.  My impression is that most wireless headphones are pretty bad. My experience previous to the Apple AirPods have been "Meh".

The AirPods are OK, not great but not so bad that I can't bare listening to them.

I have never liked the regular EarPods from Apple, and they are never used. Both because of rubbish sound quality, and because they don't fit me. My regular headphones are Sennheisers (HD-250 Linear II, Momentum II etc) and Bose QC-25, with the QC-25 being the one with the worst audio quality (but boy are they comfortable).

I would put the AirPods below the QC-25 in sound quality. But are still going to be using them instead of the QC-25 when out walking. Think I would have probably chosen them above the QC-35 as well (have not tried it), just because they are lighter and do let more sound in from the outside (which is a good thing sometimes).

I walked the dogs with my airpods going for well over an hour today and the bluetooth connectivity stopped several times for a splt second. A bit annoying but this is probably a bluetooth issue rather than an Apple one.

Anyone else who actually has the airpods getting this?

Thats just bluetooth. All audio devices do that. I find my bose qc35s are worse than my sonys when the phone is in a pocket. If I have it in the pretentious looking armband thing then its very rare. Wifi off on the phone seems to clear it up a lot too.

I like the idea of AirPods, however I would not purchase As the standard pods never stay in my ears, the slightest turn of my head sends them tumbling out. I guess I'm one of the few that they aren't designed for.
For the same price I got a pair of Bluetooth job reflect minis and a pair of jaybird freedoms from amazon,..... both fantastic headsets.

If in-ear phones don't fit properly, the sound quality suffers drastically.

There's a reason why there's aftermarket earplugs available... after all, demo'ing in-ears doesn't happen due to hygiene reasons.

My inner ears doesn't work well with the standard Apple earphones, so there's no reason to think that the Bluetooth versions will suit me any better.

However, with the average sound quality on the Q25's I'd struggle to go to the Bluetooth version (Q35) of those too...

The search (for me) continues.

This has happened to me about 3 times in a good 6 hours of listening, just sounds like a tiny split-second hiccup in the sound.

Since there is no clock transfered over bluetooth for the audio, any drift between the 2 will cause a brief glitch occasionally as the data either has to catch up or have some discarded to make up for the difference.

I am finding that my case seems to be draining on it's own (i.e. when not charging the AirPods), and especially quickly when the AirPods aren't in the case.

E.g. Case and AirPods were both at 100%, I then listened to music for maybe 2 hours (during which time the case was just in my pocket closed). When I put the AirPods back in the case the case reported it was down to 89% - so it has lost over 10% of it's charge in 2 hours of doing absolutely nothing.

I guess I'll raise a case with Apple, but would be interested to know if others are experiencing this?

Be interesting to see how common it is, or if it is just an unlucky few.

I wonder if they have stock set aside for DOA replacements or if it will mean a 6 week wait.

Don't have time to deal with them today, so will give them a ring tomorrow and get it logged.

Well, I have a replacement coming but they couldn't give me an accurate ETA. Their system tells them it will be the 6 weeks that a new order is, but she said that will be reviewed and I'll be bumped to the top of this list.

I said I wanted to keep the faulty ones until the new ones had arrived, but she said the latest she could arrange a pickup was 11 January. However if the replacements haven't arrived by the 9th I will be phoning up and insisting they push back the collection date until after the replacements have arrived. Although the lady I spoke to seemed to think I should receive the replacements before then anyway.

All in all they were friendly and helpful.
