I was seriously considering getting them when I'm in Australia in February, but the price just seems too high given that the sound quality won't be good enough for music.
I think I will pay the extra to get the Bose QC35s rather than keeping my existing QC25s for music and using Airpods for everything else.
Or, maybe a better title for this thread would be ...

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation

Why not? All the reviews I've read of them say the sound quality is excellent.
I got a pair on the 19th of December.... Have only used them for a few hours.
Initial thoughts are like the reviews - the sound is great (I can't tell the difference between these and the standard Apple wired headphones) and the pairing process is seamless. You just open the case beside the phone and they pair. Love how Apple does that....
The only downside I have found is not having buttons. I liked to be able to turn the volume up or down, and to skip songs. With these, you have to touch them each time, and ask Siri to do it "Turn volume up" etc. I am not one to request a particular song - I just have my songs on shuffle the whole time - so being able to ask Siri for a particular song/artist/album is not something I use...
All in all I love them, and not having the wires is awesome...

Surprisingly, I think there is actually less chance of losing these. We regularly have to search the house for headphones around here - they end up in the bottom of handbags, drawers etc.
With the Airpods, I put them straight back in the case after use. As the case is a little bigger than a string of wires, I think the chances of losing or misplacing are a lot harder.
Mine arrived yesterday.
So far quite impressed.
I'm no audiophile, but the sound quality sounds good to me. Pairing was incredibly simple, and they charge very quickly.
In my opinion, people that are going on about how easy they are to lose don't own them and haven't had a hands on try of them. As others have said, when not in use there is no reason not to put them straight back into the case. If the lid of the case somehow came open in a bag or pocket, the AirPods are actually magnetized into the case so they would be very unlikely to fall out (they are magnetized enough so that they will only ever come out of the case when you want them to, but not so much that they are difficult to remove). The lid of the case is also held closed by a magnet.
The only way they come out of my ears is if I take them out, or if they are physically knocked out. I've tried jumping around and shaking my head like an idiot and the didn't come out, but I did manage to knock one out when changing a t-shirt. I can't imagine them ever just falling out, although your mileage May vary depending on your particular ears - they seem to fit mine just right, but are a bit big for my girlfriend. However since the music pauses as soon as one is removed, even if you didn't feel it come out you know right away because the music stops in both ears.
If you receive a phone call while wearing them, answering is as simple as double-tapping one of them. This is the same regardless of if you have the double-tap set to activate Siri or play/pause.
And no wires to deal with is great.
Of course, they have downsides as well.
Lack of ability to control volume or skip tracks without using Siri or doing it directly on your phone will be missed by many. I don't see why they couldn't add a triple-tap to skip a track (and perhaps they will with a software update), but not sure how they could do volume.
They look virtually identical to the standard EarPods (except without the wires), yet somehow seem to look a lot dorkier. I would have loved a black option.
Had mine for 10 days and imo the music sound is the same quality as the wired pods.
As stated above they have exceeded my expectations.
Better ear fit than wired sets, no wire to catch on.
I dont like the siri controls and far prefer a button for skipping and volume, however it does get easier once you get used to it.
Had a couple of issues with losing a phone call and brief music stutter. But minor and in my research it seems to be an inherent bluetooth issue.
Not for everybody, but based on the sales volumes and reviews they do seem to be very successful.
mattwnz: For that sort of price I would expact the sound to be up there with the best.
They are way cheaper than good headphones and have 2 lots of wireless headphones and a wireless box and 3 batteries etc included in the price. I would not be expecting anything fantastic for the price considering all the other stuff they have to pay for and cram into them.

Because most reviewers have no clue about what sounds good?
No need for you to be negative if you havnt tried them. To tell me that I have no clue about sound is not called for.
When walking the dogs these wireless ones are all I need and desire and for the price are reasonable value. When listening elsewhere I choose higher quality earphones, but seriously man, no need to be rude.
