You might find this Apple Support article interesting: How to unlock your Mac with your Apple Watch

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

With my previous MacBook Pro unlocking with my Apple Watch would occasionally cause the screen to go blank and the only thing I could do was perform some funny keyboard shortcut to restart the system.

Is this possibly related to what you're describing above?

The only error I would ever get from the system was "unlocking with apple watch is not available while screen is being shared"

olivernz: From all the Android phones the OnePlus' are my favourites. I have a 3T and would love a 6T but it still does the trick and I can't fault it for anything so I am still using it. Every other phone I had before Apple and Android made me want to upgrade in <2y.

As for updates they are really on it. Yeah Pixel might be better at that but we're talking days. And I wouldn't buy a Pixel just for that.

I got the 6T and I'm really happy with it. It has it's own unique feel that makes it feel magical. That and the gestures are great

HAHAHAHA know so many people that do this. And nearly every single one of them has come crawling back.....

I'm definately not coming back. the OnePlus 6T I have is amazing. I might consider coming back in a few years, but till then...

Are you using a USB-C to hdmi adapter that uses DisplayLink drivers? I use an HP branded one and it stops the AW unlock. It’s fine with the Apple dongle but when I use them together or the the HP one on its own it doesn’t work. I think DisplayLink uses AirPlay some how, hence the ‘sharing’ error.

Yeah, some say its as good as a Canon DSLR (Not really, but they showed off a Canon DSL photo as a OnePlus contest winner in India).

You can install One Drive on just about anything (iOS,Android, windows etc...) these days and sync files across devices.

Plus other cloud storage services are available.

Not an Apple user so I'm not sure if iCloud does anything unique or special that the competition doesn't.

It does. Sync'd calendars, reminders, messages (both iMessage and vintage SMS), storage, photos, logins & passwords – all without downloading a single app.

Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Free setup code: R587125ERQ6VE. Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

This is exactly it. Things syncing between my Mac's keychain and my phone's was so helpful. Eventually I started using a password manager, so iCloud Keychain became redundant. The rest I don't particularly care about but the keychain was a big factor. Now I use Dashlane. That, and you're still able to sync calenders and photos from iCloud on Android, it just requires a bit of skill.

AND that is just about the WHOLE (apart from quality of product) reason I stick with Apple - "It Justs Works" without requiring a whole new skill set.

Lately the quality is questionable, but the customer service is amazing. That was one of the reasons I stuck round. I'll likely never return to iOS, but I will keep getting Macs, if not because if something goes haywire it's easy to call them and have a new machine sent out.

I'd be a cold day before I ditch Apple desktops but I wouldn't touch their mobile devices again.  I bought the very first 64GB iPod Touch which although a solid device wasn't cheap at the time so was pretty frustrated when Apple abandoned support for it less than three years later.  Naturally app developers followed suit with their apps failing or wouldn't interact with their online services or just inaccessible because the iPod could no longer access the App Store.

I agree many of the big brand Android mobiles aren't much better with OS updates (I'm looking at you specifically Samsung!), but at least apps are supported across a wide range of OS versions.
