@josh9089 take it to an apple authorised repair centre.  Somewhere like Service Plus.  They will assess the phone and if they find that it's a physical fault (Which they will), they'll repair it under warranty for free.  The reason you'd call Apple first is to just make sure there is a record of the issue in their system for the repair centre to cross reference to.  It just speeds things up.  But it's not necessary.  




Oh cool thanks very much for your help! I’ll do that and I’ve called apple already so they will have details of it, so that should speed it up!

A quick update on all of this... I’ve had the iPhone screen replaced by service plus under warranty, but it wasn’t fixed correctly and the phone screen wasn’t repaired properly, so I took it back in to them for them to sort it out but after a second attempt they still couldn’t sort it (the screen would stop responding at random and last for 5/10 min and then work fine until it does it again)
So I contacted Apple explained the situation and they said to drop the phone off to service plus again and they will send it off and I’ll get the unit replaced with a brand new one in a few days, fast forward a few days later to today and I get a text to come pick up my phone as the screen had been repaired, which obviously wasn’t what I was expecting, so I call service plus up to see what’s going on and they tell me that the screen has been “fixed again”.

I called the same Apple rep this evening that I’ve been dealing with this whole time, explained the situation and he tells me that, they shouldn’t have replaced the screen as they were advised to replace the phone for a new one and that I can go pick up the phone from service plus and Apple will Just send me a new phone but I have to pay a $1999 fee that will be charged to my card and then refunded to me once I send back my old phone back to them, which they will supply a return box to do so.

So I just wanted to know what you guys think about the situation, because I’m a bit wary about paying Apple all that money when I’ve already been messed around by them and service plus so much, but if it’s my only option to get a working phone again then I will do so, but just wanted to hear your opinion on it.

If the phone is under 2 years old and has a confirmed hardware fault then I would ask for it to be replaced under Consumer Law. I feel you will find  it worth your time.

The forward replacement service from Apple is quite good. I've had a phone that was faulting out replaced under it with a $2k hold on my credit card. This was refunded pretty-much as soon as the phone was back in their hands.

 

The reason why they do it this way is due to the fact people would otherwise not return phones back to them. The incentive is "if you don't return it - you pay for it" but in your case I see it as pretty-much guaranteed you'll get the hold removed from your card.

I too have used the Express Replacement Service and it was great.

 

I would much rather deal with Apple direct than some shoddy local outfit who has already lied to you more than once by the sounds of it.

I've also used it, and it's pretty fast. Had the replacement from Singapore (I think) in less than 24 hours. It comes with all the packaging and courier details to send the old one back.

 

The option that doesn't involve the credit card hold is doing it in reverse order. They send you packaging to uplift the old phone, you return it, then they send the new one out. No credit card hold needed, but it takes longer, and you have no phone at all for a few days.

Okay thanks everyone for the answers! I feel a lot better now about using the replacement service from Apple so I’ll go ahead and do that.
