Same problem here with 2.1.

Me three. Nasty nasty. The keyboard is there but not 'displayed'. I'm sure this will be a small tweak with the 2.1 SDK, sorry for now, not much you can do to test software on unreleased firmware. :)

Yup after reading this post I checked it and same result.
Just a bit more of a fiddle to get a keyboard up.

Apple tells me Version 2.0 has been accepted, guess my 5000 Heil Steve's to the mighty Ringo deity last night paid off. iTunes is still showing 1.0 for me but hopefully it will update soon.

Thanks for all the feedback. A lot of it has been built into this latest update. Cheers Mauricio for re-opening this thread.

2.0 features:
='search' and 'find nearest' functionality =the latest Zenbu data (53,000 entries)=that nasty, nasty keyboard display bug is gone =the entry display view is completely rebuilt, much easier on the eye and zoomable for those who were straining their eyes=you can download a small map preview with a marker pin without leaving for the full Maps application=direct links through to the live zenbu.co.nz site for entry viewing or editing (network connection required)

Hopefully you will find the 'nearest' search intuitive. The iPhone will approximate your location from cell towers very quickly and give an exact GPS location in under 10 secs if you are outside with a clear view of the sky. The font colour of the 'nearest' button changes from red to orange to green depending on your location accuracy.
Oh yeah, one hidden feature!Doing a nearest search for a single space character (hit the spacebar once) will search for 'everything' nearby. I use this to see what Zenbu has, and might be missing. Let me know if you find any other good uses for it!
Apple's reporting leaves a little to be desired but my best guess is 2000 people have downloaded the app so far. Thanks everyone for spreading the word. Your continued feedback is appreciated.

2.1 is out now.
A small tweak to the results list display to show the distance from your current location to each result.(The observant will note that the find-nearest results list is sometimes not ordered strictly by the distances shown in the results list. This is because the results are ordered by pythagorean distance for performance but the distance shown is a spheroid distance for accuracy.)

Also, Zenbu data updated to Nov 6 - 53,944 entries.

Using iPod Touch 2nd Gen from home, is there any way to overcome "Your Current Location is Unavailable" whenever I use the "Nearest" option.

The iPod Touch does not have a GPS and can't do cell tower triangulation so this version of the app will not let you do a nearest search.
A future version will.I see a couple of options
A) After searching for an entry, click on a link in the profile to start a nearest search from that location (the Nearest button font could go purple to indicate such a search was happening, and differentiate from the current red/orange/green).
B) Include a locations database with the app so that you can 'set' a location for your find nearest center. Maybe just suburbs/cities for simplicity, allthough a complete db down to street or house number level could be an option.
I like A as I've wanted to do that 2 step kind of search myself already.
Would B suit Touch users? I don't like the extra complexity it necessitates, but still better to have the functionality available than not too right...

I see, I thought it may utilised Skyhook to track mac address locations via wi-fi. I suppose if I could add my current location to the Nearest Search function it would be helpful. Example if I entered "KFC - Warkworth" it could locate the KFC store nearest to Warkworth. Thanks for your reply though, nice to see some useful local utilities starting to become available.

Google Street View is now operational on Zenbu. Do a search or put in a street address, then click on "Street View" to see the Google image of the location or point of interest. Yay Sam! Very handy and a much better picture than zooming in from a satellite though that has its advantages too.

Version 2.2 is out now.
Zenbu version 2.2 further enables location-aware searching. You can do a Find Nearest search from any Zenbu entry location. That means Find Nearest searching for all you iPod Touch users too.
If you're in Wellington but you want to search for an Indian restaurant near your hotel in Auckland, just search for the hotel then click Find Nearest from this Location. The Nearest button will go purple and all your searches will use that location as the reference centrepoint.
2.2 also includes a fresh update of all data from www.zenbu.co.nz - 57,318 entries.

One question. How does it sort the results when using nearest (eg travel time?)Reason is when I searched for hardware the order of results in distance is 2.6km, 2.5km, 3.2km, 3.8km, 3.3km ... 6.1km, 8.3km, 7.1km, 6.4km, 7.0km, etc so not in order from closest to furthest.

Also would be beneficial to include a pin marker when "Open iPhone Map application" link is selected from a listing

The initial search is done with a rudimentary Pythagorean distance sort, the distances displayed are far more accurate using the (from memory) Haversine algorythym. It's a bit annoying to see the distances out of order (a little) but I thought better to have the 'real' distance even so.

Also would be beneficial to include a pin marker when "Open iPhone Map application" link is selected from a listing

I initially thought that wasn't possible as it isn't documented in the API but I recently saw another app that did it (NZ Traffic) so will look into it again.
