Apple MAY announce a new TV tomorrow 09/12/20 (Tues states side) just in time for Christmas presents

Ok fresh rumours again concerning Apple TV, all just in time for Christmas. I have done a quick whizz around the net and gathered some interesting product scenario's in preparation for tomorrows rumoured announcement.

Maybe 3 new TV's variants. But surely something like this would require an Apple  Event.

  1. TV standard
    - CPU A12x or A14
    - 64Gb SSD
    - new basic remote
    - price reduction
    - full iCloud integration
    - bundled subscription: TV+,  music, Apple Fitness+ (new) [free for first ?? months]

  2. TV Pro in Soundbar form (wont be cheap)
    - CPU A14
    - 64Gb or 128Gb SSD
    - 8K capable
    - built-in ATMOS upward firing speakers
    - built-in camera or USB facility for Facetime (maybe Skype)
    - capable of wireless Subwoofer add-on
    - capable of connecting to HomePods as surround sound speakers (to rival Sonos etc)
    - new remote specific for this product
    - full iCloud integration
    - bundled subscription: TV+, music, Apple Fitness+ (new) [free for first ?? months]

  3. TV Gamer
    - CPU A14
    - top of the line GPU
    - 128Gb or larger SSD
    - Gamer controller
    - full iCloud integration into a revitalised Gamer Centre
    - bundled subscription to Game Centre [free for first ?? months]

Its great to dream, especially around Christmas time 🎅🎄

The soundbar idea is an interesting one. It might coincide neatly with the rumoured announcement of the new 'Airpods Studio'.

My Apple TV is four years old so I guess I could consider upgrading it but I don't have a 4K TV and I'm not into gaming so I'm not sure that I've got too much to gain.

Will it include a power cable or will we have to use the current one?  Asking for a friend....

Sorry couldn't resist.

Not sure the change is enough to force me to update, although a new remote might just do it.  Absolutely hate the existing one.

agreed, the remote is a dog,

That's why I went and got an old silver one from the 3rd Gen, it works a treat....

It would be great to go back to the older style remote. I really like the simplicity of it, but the touch pad just doesn't work.

I'm ok with the new style remote, just make it bigger so it doesn't get lost!

I was thinking about buying an Apple TV, then I visited one of my children who has one.
Ten minutes with the remote was enough to convince me.

Absolutely horrible: Apple TV firmly off the 'buy soon' list

I couldn't even tell you where my remote is. Lock away in a drawer somewhere I'm guessing. I've been using Harmony remotes for well over 10 yrs. I wouldn't be put off buying something because I don't like the remote its supplied with.

Looking at those specs above. There's absolutely no reason for me to upgrade. I have a PS5, so no desire for gaming on a streaming box. The Soundbar idea just doesn't appeal to me and there's nothing in the base model that i can't currently do with my current ATV 4K (I don't have an HDMI 2.1 TV).

If they do release a new box I might try to pick up a couple of 2nd hand current gen ATV 4Ks to use in the spare rooms.

Latest rumours seem to be suggesting that we might see AirPods Studio tomorrow, but no new Apple TV device.

I'm actually quite excited about the AirPods Studio, but I don't know if I can bring myself to buy them until I've seen the rumoured Sonos alternative.

Correct - That is just stupidly stupid.

US$549

NZ$999

AU$899

Direct Exchange Rate NZ$779 or AU$740

Well they wont sell many in NZ I am guessing. Their Beats are half the price but those cones I can see being withdrawn.

Oh well no Apple Christmas presents for me this year. ☹️

They better be seriously good at that price. The Bose 700 and Sennheiser PXC-550-II are nearer to half that price and I'm struggling to see any significant difference.

A grand for Beats Airpods over-ears.

I'm a massive Apple fanboi, but no. No, no, no, no.

Well after the short-lived renewed excitement of the possibility of a new Apple TV model, lets take the discussion on the AirPods Max to it's own thread and move this thread back on topic (in case the Apple TV does actually get an update).

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

Keep calm, and carry on posting.
