Shindig:

The only issue with all these apps and the hardware is ATV doesn't support audio pass through, so no Atmos for example to soundbar.

I would love to consolidate devices down, but rely on a Ziddo Z9S for full media playback

I thought that the latest ATV had HDMI 2.1 and could passthrough atmos to soundbars?

What about Dolby Atmos and DTS-X?

Infuse supports Dolby Atmos when using E-AC3 audio tracks.

We're also working to encourage Apple to add more flexible audio options which would provide support for DTS-X and additional types of Atmos, including TrueHD. More info on the ways you can help with this can be found here.

From: https://support.firecore.com/hc/en-us/articles/217735707-Audio-Options-tvOS-

The way I read it E-AC3 is more suitable for streaming, Netflix, Apple TV plus, movies etc, and not for local stored content. Not sure why local content does not use that format, maybe it’s lower quality?

My Amp shows ATMOS for some streamed content, though I have Apple TV plugged straight into Amp, and Amp does 4K video pass through to TV.
