Iphone pro and pro max have 120Hz.

Still can’t justify upgrading my XS max yet. I was waiting for usb-c as well. Iirc lightning is still usb2 speeds…

My opinion on the two camps seems to hold true, any new wacky innovative features you’d have to go android. Iphone is still playing it safe.

I will probably upgrade my watch (series 4) but thats about it.

My current 11 pro max is just fine for me, Not exactly taking pictures of the queen and what I do take are perfectly great imo

Just finished watching the recording of the presentation

In short feels like an "S" year. I would of hoped they would of introduced some new sensors to the Apple Watch but just feels like a 6 with a slightly bigger screen and new colours.

All they seem to be able to do with the phones is make the camera a little better as well as the battery a bit better also.

I note the rumour sites have already got a render of the iPhone 14 which looks good.

I'm tempted to update my four-year-old iPhone X because I love having new and nice stuff but can't justify it based on what I'm seeing.

Part of this is because I've seen this story in several places. OK it's a rumour 12 months out (yeah, crazy) but if there's anything in it, I'll just wait a year and get a 14. There's little real change between 12 and 13 - but 14 could be quite different.

I do recall some of the rumour sites/youtube channels saying Apple are running on a 3 year cycle hence the 11,12 and 13 look fairly similar, hopefully next year's one will bring some major differences

I pretty much just posted 'Apple: Due lack of ideas, we now make cameras. Oh - they can make calls and browse internet too'

We still wont be upgrading our venerable iPhone7 x 2, iPad6, iPad Mini5 until either  stops upgrading the OS and or App's becomes very slow or non-upgradable or the devices are broken. To upgrade for upgrade sake has never been our thing, besides we are not 'Richie Rich'.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

At least there has been "some" movement in the NZD pricing as the currency rises,

last year the US 12 pro was $999 - $1899 in NZ, This year the $999 13 pro  is $1799 here

Also the standard 12s now ship with 128GB min as opposed to 64Gb last year,

What I'd like is the Pro Max cameras and screen in the Mini.

I was almost tempted to jump ship again to the Fold 3. At least it's interesting!

Can't wait for the youtubers comparing cameras. As far as I'm concerned, Galaxy S20 Ultra has the best functioning (maybe not picture quality) set of cameras

I'm in an odd place OS wise. Our household is full of Samsung stuff - TV, fridge, washing machine, dryer etc so their phones would work well

Yet the computers and my wife's phone are all Apple. So messages, calendar etc all work better if we stay Apple.

It's definitely a "whelming" release features wise, but I think it's everything I expected. Interesting they've called the black 'midnight' and the white 'starlight' - wonder how black and white they are in real life. I have to admit I really love the pink too.

Whelming as it is: I love that new blue, and my mini is cracked, plus the battery is not that flash, and so the credit card will be getting a work out on Saturday...

Geektastic:

New Mini?

I think so, yeah. I'm 70/30 on mini vs regular at the moment though to be honest.

I love the size of the mini, it's almost the Goldilocks phone (though I firmly believe the 5.8" size of the X was the true sweet spot). My main qualm with the mini was always the slightly shorter battery life and also when I was committing on the train a lot, I sort of missed the larger screen for watching stuff - hence the 30% leaning towards regular.

But day to day use the mini is just such a nice size, and I love that it sits nicely in the pocket, and the extra hour or so battery in the 13 mini puts it in the right place.

I have always looked at the Mini and thought "maybe..."!

The battery was the deciding no factor for me last time. This looks like a better phone - although I find the way that they express the battery life improvement over the last one as if we all know what the last one did to be a bit irritating!

I tend to go to both ends in my deliberation - either the Mini or the Pro Max! Mind you the Pro Max hitting $3,000 for the 1TB version is getting ridiculous - I could buy a nice MB Air and have change for that much!
