Upgraded an iPad to 15 and very unimpressed that privacy settings were reset - specifically it allowed location access back to apps that had had it denied, all system services, significant locations, location sharing, analytics etc. These settings should either be preserved across the update or default to the most secure setting, not least secure.

Odd. Just updated and my location services haven't changed. A mix of 'while using' and 'never'.

Edit - For clarity, it's a work phone.

ALTRON:

Was on ios beta 15 RC and I guess that was the last update as no update for me today

Check again – I was on iOS 15 RC too, but there was a new update this morning for me on both iPhone & iPad.

The release notes said something about fixing a bug where "widgets might get reset during a restore from backup", but it was 800MB+ from memory so probably a lot more than just that.

Just had a look and it appears the settings were persistent on my phone

Need to remove beta profile to see the update.

I updated but I've not seen much so far that will dramatically improve my life.

Sleep focus only really does what I had do not disturb already doing, for example.

ditto, if it had updated in the background I would not have known. Safari looks different but my default is Chrome. Tried out the private relay (in safari) and saw it works, thats about it.

Safari looks quite different. URL bar is now at the bottom. Tab groups feature has been added.

I think you can switch the URL bar back to the top if you don’t like it at the bottom. I believe this switch option came after a lot of negative feedback to Apple during the beta.

Just figured it out.
Settings > Safari > change ‘tab bar’ to ‘single tab’.

Safari changes is not something I would of picked as liking, but I like them.

Thanks!

That will be why there was an update available on the iPad running 14.8 but not the iPad riunning 15.0 RC. Sorted now and both on 15.0. I will pootle along until iPadOS 16 gets to the more stable betas before trying them. I think it will have to be on the newer iPad because surely the Air 2 must be going to get cut adrift.

Update from 15RC to public was 350MB.

Handed my updated iPhone to someone and asked them to visit a website. Hilarity ensued as they went hunting for the address bar.

So in Do Not Disturb mode you had the option to show notifications as normal while the phone was unlocked.

It's now gone.

I'm pretty sad about this. Not a deal breaker but damn.

Well, this update has been nothing but a massive headache all day.

Running an iPhone 12 Pro Max it successfully broke iMessage and iCloud.

Signed out of iCloud on the iPhone and when I signed back in again, I got an error stating that I can't use iMessage as I cannot sync between iCloud and iMessage.

Signed out again, restarted phone, signed in again. Same error.

Wiped phone clean, set up as a whole new device. Now it won't use my AppleID to sign into Music or the App Store, throws an error telling me that my AppleID is invalid.

Wiped phone clean again and set up once again as a whole new device. So far, it appears to be working.

Now I get to wipe my Apple Watch 5 again, because the battery drain on that is epic! (90% charge to 15% in two hours)
