duckDecoy: ... So is there a way to fix this?

Or perhaps is there a different app that I can download and will work better than the MS Photos app? I don't want to use the cloud, I just want the photos on my PC.

Don't know about a way to fix it, but different apps were discussed here.

Yup, it's either iCloud or iTunes for Windows if you want to store them locally. I used to run a hackintosh so I could backup my photos easily but have since switched to Mac for ease of use.

We upload all of our devices (Android and iPhone) photos to Dropbox.

We have Dropbox Desktop installed on a windows desktop, so all of these photos are saved to this desktop.

We then have this desktop backing up these photos automatically and daily to our unRAID server using Syncback Free.

Note: I have the free Dropbox account with only 8GB of storage - so every now and again I have to empty the Dropbox Camera Uploads folder out. Minor inconvenience IMO for a largely automated and free way to back up our photos.

This might seem dumb, but how do you get the photos from your iPhone onto the dropbox app?   Sorry if that is dumb, I have not installed the dropbox desktop app.

I have iTunes installed on my PC.  How do you get iTunes to export the photos somewhere?  I have done a phone backup using iTunes but didn't see an option to save my pictures somewhere.

I hope my questions are not too dumb, i'm not as tech literate as many here.
