Stathi: Got mine when I was in the US, haven't had the need to use 3g but will start looking at what the plans are.

Dick Smith had Vodafone MicroSims in boxes ready to go I'm not sure if they were charging for them though.

At Harvey Norman when I purchased mine, they just handed me a Vodafone "Microsim for iPad" envelope with a $0.00 price sticker, so I don't expect DSE to be charging for them.

Two hours ago I told myself that I wasn't go to get sucked in getting one on release day. However when I set off for work I just couldn't help myself so picked up a 16gb 3G.

V: Went into Harvey Norman on Tory St. Real simple, in and out quickly. Can't wait to unbox this thing after class.

come on xpd, go buy 1, bring it round here, i am dying to try and get it to talk to media center and get rid the logitech edge keyboard.  if I can do that I will definitely buy one

In fact if anyone knows of an app (for the ipad) that will work as a keyboard/mouse/remote for win7 over wifi or bluetooth, givus a headsup as that is the big selling point for me.

ahemphill99: Got mine in Aus and had the pleasure of using this thing for 3 or 4 weeks now - they are awesome for sitting on the couch, checking emails, facebook, twitter etc and some of the games are quite addictive.

Top 5 must have?apps for any new users:

1/. Angry Birds
2/. NZ Herald (best news app of the lot I think, better than BBC and NY Times)
3/. Flipboard
4/. MobileRSS HD
5/. Twitterific

Cheers
Andrew

Yeah i fully agree with you on that, its just so conveniant

As for the apps you mentioned, i have (1) (2) (3) and (5) and they are all excellent. The nz herald app is quite stunning, very good to look at

Thx, I saw VF had them online for $0.00 as well, I'm looking at XT offerings for data before I decide.

Wouldn't it be a bit of a problem topping it up? Like it's a Microsim and you can't call on the iPad nor insert the Microsim into a normal phone without a adapter.
Unless if it's possible to do it online >.< -  Which I just realized.

Where's my morning coffee!

Looking out the window and I see some toons at the DSE near us with iPads.

Maybe this?

http://myallo.com/leptonic/software/airmote/

might need a bit of hack'n'slash but looks promising.

I don't think many people that have SIMs in their data devices switch them into phones to top them up, do you?

Bit Sad...

just went to jbhifi Q st, there's 3 on demo there but none on wifi so it's just playing with the demo apps. Pretty cool to play with but disappointed there's none to try on the web.

I was really hoping it's trigger an impulse buy but I want to have a play with the web browser first.

The demo videos were pretty low res and looked a bit rubbish to be honest, artifacting and just plain blurry!

Photos were REALLY good, I like the new itunes and the iwork suite were all pretty trick but the web and video are the two things i really want it for.

(and geodefense)

Might save the $1200 and get an iphone4...

You could try Touch Mouse

I wish I'd gone into harvey or noels to get one instead of waiting an hour at Magnum Mac for their POS system to start working. Guess that's what happens when you run Mac servers ;)
