Picked up Gangstar: West Coast Hustle last night, currently on sale at $1.29. It's basically Grand Theft Auto for iPad. There's a free version if you want a trial too. Cheap fun :-)

Games:

Plants v Zombies $6.49
Battle for wesnoth $6.49
Angry Birds (I thought this was more than the $1.29 someone else said - I may be wrong)

NZherald, BBC
Flipboard (am on a waiting list though..)
Epicurious - best cooking/recipe App i've seen
Freebooks, Kindle, iBooks - no reason not to have all three.

Eyewitness - awesome images for just a lideshow in the room
IMDb, Wikipanion, Wikihood - I use these almost every day

Course notes $6.49 (excellent student app)
Good reader $1.29 - awesome for downloading PDFs straight from web

SoundHound - can't rave about this enough. Easier to use than itunes (for me) and has music recognition - tells you the song the radio is playing (or you are singing)

Anyway, thats enough for now

Oh and AppsMosaic allows you to see previews of the most popular NZ apps - can sort by Free and paid which you can't on App store, but unfortunately can sort by iPad/iPhone - yet. But it's free. Try it.

:)

iBooks
Reeder (best RSS reader for Google Reader)
Simplenote (free, for syncing notes between Mac, iPad, iPhone etc. - most used app I have!)
NZ Herald (free, looks good but news stories seem to stay on for days and days...)
Flipboard (again, looks great, got potential but already stopped using it)
BBC News (free, good for global news)
Zinio (magazine reader, free with free Nat Geo water edition - I am waiting for international Nat Geo subscriptions)
Magic Piano (lots of fun)
PressReader (great free app, also subscribe for US$9.99/month for 31 worldwide newspapers/month)
Osfoora HD (for twitter)
iCabMobile (for an alternative browser so me and the wife can have different browser bookmarks)
AirVideo (great app for remotely watching any video I have on my Mac whatever the codec)
DropBox (free, syncs with the cloud etc.)
Epicurious (great free recipes app - made for the kitchen)
EyeTV app (watch live/recorded tv anywhere (via EyeTV on the Mac), also hooked up to MySky HDi so essentially got MySky HDi on the iPad cos we ain't never gonna get that from Sky!)
RealRacing HD (good racing game, great to show off the graphics)
Harbor Master (free and very addictive game)
IM+ (for Skype and Facebook chat with push notification)
Instapaper (for reading marked web pages offline)
Kindle (dunno why, I don't read!)
Peek-a-boo Barn (for my one year old)
I Hear Ewe (for my one year old)
Talking Tom (for my one year old, she'll listen to the cat rather than me)
Toy Story (free storybook for my one year old)
Drawing Pad (for my one year old)
Angry Birds (for me!)
Pinball HD (great game, great graphics, great sound, even has 3D modes with the right coloured specs)
TuneIn Radio (to listen to the BBC live and on demand)
1Password (for keeping online passwords in sync with Mac and iPhone)

Sorry I don't know the prices of the apps, I actually got quite a few of the paid ones when on offer at a reduced price or even free.

Our iPad is used loads since we got it, we got the lowest/cheapest model, 3G too expensive to buy and run and 16Gb enough for what we need to actually hold on it, everything else is in the cloud or on our Mac.

Can't wait for iOs4 so I can start to stick this lot into folders.

Ok, I have to know: how did you get it hooked up to MySky HDi?

Has anyone got any notepad+ and ftp tools working on it?
I'd love to be able to surreptitious coding when I'm meant to be watching tv (sad, I know :) )

MySky HDi sends composite out into EyeTV box on the Mac.
EyeTV application on the Mac allows you to watch the live composite feed which is MySky on your iPad using the EyeTV iPad app.
I also have an xray remote connected to MySky so essentially I can watch and control MySky anywhere in the house.

Ah, that makes sense. I thought you had some sort of funky digital connection. :(

James Bond: http://tvnz.co.nz/technology-news/download-tvnz-ipad-application-3675668

Going to install in a minute to check, but seems to be missing the only feature I would really be interested in: streaming TVNZ On Demand. :-\

No links in the app to the On Demand site either that I can find... weird omission.

I purchased iCabMobile tonight for $2.59. It is a web browser which supports tabs and a few other neat things that mobile Safari lacks. It seemed to be the best of the alternatives from the extensive-ish search I did on the topic. It also appears to be a little faster than mobile Safari too. Might be worth a look.

Did  you  try iLunascape?

It's free  and also  does  tabs. Best  of the  free browsers  (and some of  the  paid ones I've  tried. iCabMobile  is pretty cool for it's  slight difference to 'normal'  browsing  though..

While  I'm  here,  gotta put in another plug for Flipboard. Getting better and better.  I would say once there is a pay    version,  I would want to actually be able to  have a few  more feature  (especially in  fb and  twitter ), but  for a  free  app  it  rocks!
