OK thought seeming as iPhones and iPads are not used in the same way that there should be a seperate thread with apps that people have found that are great on the iPad.

I have found Stanza to be a great ebook reader. Also got to give credit to the NZ Herald for putting a great newspaper app out and giving it away! I know they have said they will charge in the next version but a great way to show people how well a electronic newspaper can work.

Good idea on the new thread Nety.

Apps I've found and love to date:

* DropBox: Shared cloud storage for PC\Mac, iPhone and iPad. Syncs automagically.

* LogMeIn Ignition: remote software, very intuitive mouse gestures make it very useable.

* Tech Junkie: all the most popular tech websites in one easy app. Add\delete your own sites as you see fit. Got rid of all my on screen bookmarks with this app.

* Flipboard: If you use Twitter, this takes Tweets and their subsequent links and turns it all into a magazine style format. Very cool and free. (Works for Facebook too but don't have an account.)

* Pages: well documented Apple app, but so very useable on the iPad.

* AirVideo: streams video to your iPad anywhere you have an internet connection. Converts various formats (DivX, avi, wmv etc) on the fly, or converts permanently if you so desire.

* Google Earth is fantastic on the bigger screen.

* C Aquarium Lite: turns your iPad into an aquarium.

* The iPad version of Monkey Island!

That'll do for now ;-)

Figured if you were interested in the sound of the app you would look it up anyway but since I can't edit my post -

Free apps - Dropbox, Flipboard, Epicurious, Google Earth, C Aquarium lite.

Paid -
LogMeIn: $38
Tech Junkie $1.29
AirVideo $4.19
Monkey Island $10.99 (or try the Lite version for free...)

Thanks to those who have made recommendations so far. I'm going to try a couple of them out.

Personally, I'm particularly enjoying HomeBudget at the moment. It's quite powerful and very easy to use.

Hard to believe there still isn't an official Facebook for iPad app.

Air Video is fantastic. I've also got it integrated with my Dreambox so I can stream (and reencode) live TV to an iPad or iPhone!

eWallet is really good for password keeping. Extremely configurable, there's a PC/Mac version as well that can sync the wallets, although I don't use it.

An expensive ($64.99) one is OmniGraffle. It's too bad it doesn't export to Visio, but in any case it's great for diagramming during meetings. PCalc the best calculator app IMHO, and there's a free version of it.

1Password is another great app for passwords. I don't think I need such an app yet but it's won lots of awards fwiw...
