Whilst I do feel bad for iPhone 3G users running iOS4, I'd like to remind some of them of the criticism Apple copped from 3G users when it was announced that some iOS4 features would be restricted on the 3G.

Imagine how much worse the performance would be if they actually released it with wallpaper and multi-tasking enabled.

I don't know first-hand of any 3G users who complained. Personally, I was grateful, and assumed that this meant that the upgrade would perform satisfactorily. After all, why restrict some features beacuse they affect performance, but include others which have a deleterious effect too?

Sure, because the 3GS is an order of magnitude faster than the 3G. Never said your model has a performance issue

Ha.  I'm definitely no Apple fanboy, but I'm glad I purchased my iPad as it fills a want in my life.  But I do have to say that all this Apple bashing is as equally pathetic as the Apple fanatics.

And I realise the comment above was a joke, but it is a common theme from Apple bashers.  All technology has a shelf life, and new models of things are being brought out constantly.  Hell the Sony LCD TV I purchased five years ago has been superceded many times over.  That is just a fact of life for all technology, not just Apple products.  Regardless of their rate of change.

I think I've just created a new category.  A non Apple fanboy who is bashing the bashers!

I do fall into that category quite nicely.
Except I do own a MacBook
Therefore, I sort of fall into the same category as you too.

But aren't you one of the biggest Apple bashers on GZ?  ;-)

Quite Possibly, I do enjoy the occasional bashing.

My MacBook has dents in it, and a rather attractive sticker covering the Apple Logo;

michaelmurfy: Apple operate like this:
1) Build up a army of bots, also known as "Fanboys"
2) Release a new product, that's only marginally better than the last, and then the Fanboys swarm in millions to buy the new product.
3) Release BETTER product the next year.
4) *Loop*

It seems the OP is in that endless loop, there's other "better" phones out there.

Lol what a stupid business plan.

You have to admit though, in Apple's case it's sort of true.

Thats the unfortunate thing Satch - the your in the deep stages of Fanboyism - like any other addiction, your in complete denial...

Really before anyone can help you (and yes you need help), you need to firstly admit that you've got a problem, and come out and admit that your a fanboy...

All the signs are there, the 3GS, the iPad, the girdfriends iPhone, and you willing to go to unreasonable steps of breaking contracts to get yourself an iPhone 4 at the expense of your girlfriend.  Everyone else can see the signs... You just need to take the final steps and look at yourself...

I know its not easy to admit being a fanboy... But your not alone, and there are plenty of places that can help... Just pickup the phone now, you know you want to, dial the number 0800 FANBOY...

They will help, as they have helped many other fanboys like you.  Your no longer alone, society has changed and is beginning to see fanboyism for the serious problem that it is.

You just have to take the first step and admit you need help... pick up the phone, make that step...

I think it's true for most companies. The only thing they tend to milk are their iPods I find. As I always end up saying though, no one actually has to buy Apple products... Buy your Asus laptop for less if you want. No one is going to care.
