If you had lost something and desperate to get it back, assuming you had done a recent backup before the DFU you could restore that onto the iPhone which should get your contacts back, then sync with iTunes making sure your contacts were synced to your computer, then start the whole DFU process again, next time you should hopefully have your up to date contacts list. If you can remember the details for the contacts you lost though it's not really worth it.

Teeps: Not near my computer so can't remember for definite, but as long as your contacts were set to sync with your computer before you did the DFU you should now be able to restore them by enabling the contacts sync in iTunes

Yes, correct. I don't have a iDevice so can't really help you out further, but as long as you did a sync before blasting it away with the DFU the contacts should be all there.

Oops. That's a problem. Unless you changed your wifi password (which you should have done but if you did I'm sure you'd have remembered it) look on the back of the router as it's normally printed on it

It was on the driver disk and my husband wrote it on a piece of paper and put it in with the disk but you know what - I can't find the disk. I didn't change it - its been the same since we've had it. We have broadband and plugging into that for the wireless network for the phone. Not to worry, husband can find it when he gets home

And if he can't he's in serious trouble ;-)

This will bugger up your battery drain test for today though as using 3G will eat through the battery much quicker than wifi.

Yeah I know - I've looked where I think it is but can't find it - am doing a full charge now that everything is set back up on my phone and was going to see how it went - if I turn 3G it'll be able to tell me if what i've done has worked right?

It will all work normally without wifi, just that you're using 3G data which drains the battery quicker than wifi

I have left 3G off and after 45 minutes after coming off a full charge - the phone is still at 100% and not burning to touch like it was before. Seems this has done the trick. At 45 minutes before it would have lost just about 20% so that's brilliant. Thanks a lot for your help every - I'm please I don't have to take it in - a week or two without it would kill me!

That's good to know, I hope it keeps working for you. Next test try it with 3G back on, although it will run down quicker than it is now it shouldn't discharge anywhere near as quickly as you were seeing before.

Well, its been off charge now for nearly three hours and have sent a few texts and taken a couple of calls and its still at 100% and feels cold unlike the burning when I picked it up before. My husbands iPhone4 lasts really well on 3G, as its on all the time, and would charge it every couple of days or so, so will see now how it goes on 3G

Apologies on the double topic starter, I double clicked my mouse, and didn't realise it created two posts. I'll have to be more careful with my fingers next time. I didn't know how to delete it or if i could...

That aside, 24 hours later with no charge and about 2-3 hours useage, the phone is at 50% charge. I am so pleased - although will be upgrading to iPhone4 as soon as VF release me!
