Technofreak: I can view the the full TradeMe site as well on my phone and get the features/functions that the mobile site doesn't have. I can have email push as well to get any auction closing emails, though I dont't bother with that.

Back to my original question, Why is an app needed for the iPhone? Why would a website owner bother spending the money to develop such an app?

Accessing the full website via iPhone is possible, but its annoying having to zoom in to click the correct links etc and to be able to read the text clearly...well thats IMO.

I'll find the app useful, its a lot easier to read and keep track of my auctions while Im mobile by clicking a couple of icons rather than making sure Im clicking on the right link etc.

At home Ill still stick to the full site on my laptop.

It does make sense when the site owner is taking advantage of the hardware it is running on ie Yellowpages where it ties in with the GPS and google maps.

It does not make sense (IMHO) when it is just offering the same or less features then the standard web site provides. It can make it easier to navigate but then m. web sites would be a better option I would think in those cases.

As per the real estate part - not being able to go back once you click on number of bedrooms etc...same happens when choosing details of a car in a search. Can't go back after choosing year or price range etc.

Seems pretty good so far, saw someone in the other threat wishing there was an official one, here it is.

This is a terrbile app, especially for something produced by a company the size of fairfax.

Read the reviews on the app store for it. abysmal.
