A lot of data. Iphone 4 is 600mb, ipad is 550mb, ipod is nearly 400mb, and , now apple tv , not sure how much that will be.

At any measure, these updates are going to consume close to 2gb of data from my broadband data. Ouch!!

I had some problems with my iphone connecting to wifi after the updates. It was reallly really slow. Rebooted the iphone, seems to be working more nicely on wifi now.

mrphil: anyone try the free "find my iphone" with the 4.2 update?

Not tried the free one as I have MobileMe but it's the same. Works well and great to know you can lock your iPad from your iPhone (or any computer) while a friend is playing with it and won't give it back to you :-D

That's the one I'm looking forward to. Multi-tasking, maybe, folders... well, I don't tend to keep apps around I don't use that often, but sure.

What I want, but was not and probably never will be delivered:

* Wireless (inc. 3G, not just Wifi) auto-update of podcasts
* Better VPN support so that I can do things over 3G that are otherwise WiFi only, like AirDisplay, or even printing
* Streaming from my TB-size iTunes library at home to my always-internet-connected wireless device

No, I don't want to chain myself to my home PC once a day so iTunes can spend an hour faffing with iPad backups etc.!!

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

Interested in any anecdotal evidence of performance boosts on the iPhone 3G if anyone has any to share...my partner will be very pleased if her 3G actually starts to work properly again.

I'm updating my 3GS now.

AirPrint works really well, after installing the AirPrint Hacktivator on the 'host' computer (otherwise only works with certified AirPrint printers?)
Printing to a Samsung Laser Printer.
http://netputing.com/airprinthacktivator/

Once AirPlay has been started (song playing), any sound is transmitted to the remote speakers. I opened a game and tried it out. About a 2 second delay between action happening on screen (iPhone screen) and sound coming from remote speakers. Notification sounds (text msg, new mail, I presume ringtones too) are also played across AirPlay speakers.

Folders and multi-tasking do actually make the iPad a whole new device, at least for convenience and functionality, which is pretty much everything when you think about it.

5 pages of apps now down to 2. Apps now pick up again where they were left, and if I forget where my iPhone has been left I’m covered for that too!

Very happy indeed.

I didn't think I used multitasking and folders that much on my iPhone but it was surprising how often I tried to do fast app switching on my iPad before and couldn't so this is a very welcome update.

I can totally see where you're coming from with your wish list, of course there is a possibility some of this will happen in the future but in these days of ever decreasing data caps (most places in the world anyway) we'd all start spending loads more on data than we currently do and even though I'm sure the networks would like the money there would bound to be problems with speed.

Saying that, I have a Spotify account so I already have music streaming :-)

I think I'll leave it. I have an iPhone 4 running 4.1 and jailbreak. Cant see myself using airplay and havent felt the need to "find on page" in Safari.

find my phone is fun to play with.  Good how you can play a sound and it ignores if you have the phone set to silent.

Find on page can be added on any iOS through bookmarks... I've had it on mine for about a year

This from a post on iPhonewzealand -

Topes says:
Was a little gutted when I saw that Find my iPhone was Free on iPad and iPhone 4, but thought I would see if I could enable it on my iPhone 3Gs and I CAN :-) .

First activate and verify your account by creating it on your iPad or iPhone 4, once verified on that device login from you iPhone 3Gs and it will verify aswell.

Sounds like you may need an iPad or iPhone 4 to start the process tho.
