I asked Siri a few complicated mathematical problems and she went off the rink about them for a while and then came back with answer for every one of them.
No idea if she was right.
Also asked her who is the singer of Metallica. She didn't know what I said.

Hmmm, it didn't give me any results when I asked that question although it was able to tell me when my election night party is based on my calendar entries.

I asked it when Good Friday is, and was amused when it gave the date and said "I hope I get the day off".

I'm surprised that it can't tell me where the nearest McDonalds is, but I guess that's due to local information being unavailable for NZ. That would really limit it's usefulness.

I have so far found there are two problems:

Weather: I don't seem to be able to get it when asking "what is the weather going to be like tomorrow?" ("Sorry, I don't have weather information for Otago, New Zealand", even though I'm in Palmerston, Otago. Does it mean the whole region?). Also, whenever I ask what the weathers like in Feilding it misspells it as Fielding and says that I will need in an umbrella and shows weather for Wellington.
Locations (e.g. businesses): This seems to be an artificial limitation as you can easily type McDonalds into the Maps app and get directions to the nearest McDonalds in there but when you try it with Siri it says that it does not work anywhere but the US. There are two possible reasons for this:

There are licensing restrictions on this data.
Foreign business names were harder to recognize ("wheres the fush and chip shop, bro?") and did not work quite as well as they would have liked (most likely).

Any other ideas?

They chose to go with a deal with Yelp for business search, and that doesn't work outside of the US.

If this is true then go do a search for McDonalds on the Maps app and tell me how it works? Oh wait, they don't use Yelp exclusively.

I'm just trying to point out that they have the resources there to add the feature in but have chosen not to for whatever reason.

Speculation, but my theory is that the reason is they want to give google as little oxygen as possible. Perhaps integrating Google map data into Siri would have required a renegotiation of the license agreement, which in turn would have tipped Google off to what they were doing before Siri's launch. A complex situation when you're dealing with a company who's both a partner and a competitor.

I'm pretty sure it actually says the data is from Finda but no doubt this is handled on Googles side.
