For anyone to post any interesting stuff on Siri. I will start the ball rolling.

Make an Calendar Entry

Just say a number or time. She will say there is nothing on the calendar, and offer to add an entry.

Yes, does seem to be getting better at recognising what I'm saying too. Siri is very handy to make calendar entries and reminders, so much quicker than opening the app and entering the details.

My Siri is male though as I'm British. Just doesn't seem quite right to me though!

I tried it earlier today but it just seemed to list airlines in the USA. Shame

I asked Siri what my brothers address was earlier, as it didn't know who my brother was at the time it asked me, after saying who my brother was it showed me his address. Now anytime I refer to my brother it knows who I'm talking about so I just told it who my other relations are. As I have two sisters it just asks me to confirm which sister. It does make it nice and useable as its so much more natural than feeling I have to say their full name.

The impression I got before release was that the voice recognition will work well. It has exceeded that. And the integration so far is relatively minimal, but it is productive. Julie is my wife added that relationship, as you also mentioned. There are clearly many shortcuts I feel and hope, one being as I noted in my opening post, so a real time saver. A Google search is now a statement so thats quicker too. I asked "What Is Michael Schumachers age" and she got that 100% recognised, and answer was there a few seconds later.

Or do what I did. I had two different contacts set up for my wife... you tell Siri both of them, then when you ask it to "Txt my wife" it replies - "Which wife?" :-)

That could work a treat during a demo at the in-laws this christmas!

Im not sure, it may be just linking information in the iPhone as it adds the relationship in your contact details. What I do know is I trust it with my information way more than I trust Google. The amount they know about each and every one of us is way more scary.

Tip

Siri uses the existing proximity sensor to test if the phone is near your ear, apparently this polls quite a lot, so to save battery life, turn that off.

From the privacy thingy:

"Your device will also send Apple other information, such as your first name and nickname [etc]. All this data is used to help Siri understand you better and recognise what you say. It is not linked to other data that Apple may have from your use of other Apple services."
