I have owned my 7plus for about six months. The lack of 3.5mm audio jack has not worried me at all. I can use the included in ear phones with the port and I have the little adapter on my over ear phones. For me its a non issue. At some point I may get a Bluetooth set but is not an urgency.

Depends how you use it. I listen to mine when charging at night. The iPhone 8 and X would allow this now with wireless charging but the 7 is crippled with only having the single charging port which is shared with headphones.

I use one of these at night to charge, it has a 3.5mm jack included.

Careful, you might get told off.  That's yet another optional accessory that "should" be included :-)

I jest, but my point being there are so many accessories that could be included but each one would ***push up the price***.  I don't want their blue tooth headphones... I've got my own.  I don't want a fast charging cable... my phone charges perfectly well overnight when I'm asleep. I don't want a wireless charging pad... I find it just as easy to plug it in.

Apple provided corded earBuds with lighting because they have always provided corded headphones.  They also provided a 3.5mm converter in case you want to use your own headphones... which they didn't need to do but it probably saved some backlash.  In my opinion everything else is quite rightly an optional extra. Or I guess you could go KFC style and say the price includes any 2 large accessories of your choice :-) But yet again inflating the price for stuff I don't want or need.

I can see your point, however the cost price of accessories is relatively minor, compared to the price increase on this new iphone X. Especially as they want to advertise these earbuds as the future. I hardly see anyone using them, possibly also because of the cost, but also because they don't look great. If they were black, then that would improve them 100%. The iphone originally did include accessories like a dock, which they later removed, as it is an area they can increase their margins, as accessories are usually always far higher margin. Don't know if it decreases the selling price of the device though doing this.

Yeah, but it is yet another accessory that you need to buy, so just add that one to the list. Whereas the iphone 6s or SE has the 3.5 jack included. But it does look to be a good solution for nighttime use.

You don't see many about because there are many other options available on the market that suit people better... and as for price I don't think that is the issue, my QC35's were not cheap.  I think we have done this argument to death now... I don't want their accessories to push up the final price... it's already dear enough thanks.

Apple oxymoron. Remove the 3.5mm audio jack telling us it's because the future of audio is wireless, then bundle wired headphones.

One of the benefits of Airpods is that they'll probably last many years so if you buy a pair now then you probably won't need another pair when you eventually buy your next iPhone.

The wired headphones, on the other hand, had a limited lifespan because the cable eventually breaks or frays.

Dial111: @tdgeek yeah righto lol is that how you justify Apple selling a product with a feature that doesn't work until you buy an accessory at a massive hike?

Pretty much every Android manufacturer that has fast charge works straight out the box. You want me to shell out $2100 then some to make a feature work?

Next you'll tell me that if People want touchID and Apple sold an adapter at $100 to make it work, it would be well worth it.

Maybe Apple should charge for the privilege of updating to every new iteration of iOS as well.

I don't want you to shell out anything. If you don't like the price or accessories then don't buy. There are plenty that are willing to.

It is almost users think they have the right to dictate what a company can sell their wears for???

Apple have to justify to its investors and them alone.

The more people like you that don't buy the better for people like me that want to, less of a wait...

Steady on fanboy, didn't realise I pinched a nerve LOL

Apple's historical profits and massive cash position stem from one place: Steve Jobs.

Since his departure, Apple is now a much different company, so it will be interesting to see if they will continue their historical dominance into the future.

Sure....

Steve Jobs passed away in 2011, Apple's value was $200 Billion at the time of his death. Today Apple's value is $820 Billion

Assuming, of course, the Airpod battery lasts many years and/or you don't misplace one of them.

Another Android fan on an Apple thread... for what purpose I ask.... hmmmm.

Anyway, as Richard clearly pointed out.... Which phone bundles wireless headphones as standard ( not telco or retail pack).

None... that's how many.

I still don't get the glass back. Won't it be rather slippery?
