I just put the leather Apple case on. It's easier to grip than the naked phone. I've never understood why the metal sides of phones don't have diamond pattern knurling on. They're so slippery, which in a $2000 device is not sensible.

I've got a wallet style case on order from Noreve in France which will cover the screen when closed, my preferred style. It'll take a month for them to make it and ship it though.

Oh of course, I keep forgetting you have the Pro with its shiny and slippery sides. Agree some kind of pattern or grip would be infinitely helpful with that.

Noreve cases look pretty lux!

Haha! Why change then?
I just moved to a 13 Pro Max and it was fine.
The only time consuming process I'm going through is getting the Microsoft Authenticator app push notifications setup again.

The main reason? The horrendous camera lag on the S21 Ultra, I'll keep it for the class leading zoom, but by the time you snap a photo the moment has passed.

Yes they are. I have one on my most used device - my Kindle. Had it 2 years or so and still looks new.

They're not cheap but the materials and workmanship are first class.

I've decided that the iPhone 13 is the most boring thing I've bought in ages.

Works very well but almost too straightforward to be interesting!

I hope they do something genuinely interesting with it soon.

Top of Westmorland in Christchurch. That was just taken from our bedroom balcony. Look out towards the South and you don't get any City light pollution and there is no street lamps either. Gets pretty dark when it's a moonless night.

Taken with a 12 Pro Max in Wanaka on Thursday night, hope to do a comparison with the 13 Pro Max within a month.

Put the phone face down?

Ive never used DND but maybe with ios15 there is a way to just have sound?

The other way would be through notifications and change it per each app

Siri keeps coming up when I press the side button even though I only want to wake the device. It seems that holding the button for a millisecond too long causes it to active Siri rather than just waking.

This is really becoming a major nuisance now. When the device is asleep, a short press of the side button seems to either wake it or activate Siri and it's totally random as to which of those two things occurs.

So far I have explored the following options:

  • Turn off Siri entirely. This isn't workable as it disables Carplay.
  • Turn off the side button 'voice assistance' activation within the accessibility options. This also appears to disable Siri, so same problem as above.
  • Turn on 'raise to wake' so that I don't need to use the side button to wake the device. I don't like this as it constantly wakes the device when I'm not intending to use it, which creates a risk of unintended touch screen inputs.
  • Use the accessibility setting 'tap to wake' as an alternative to the above. I don't particularly like this either but it's the best solution I can find.

Perhaps just tap the screen instead to wake the phone.

I don’t seem to have the same issue with Siri - it needs a solid press to come on. Assume you have rebooted your phone - it really does solve many silly issues.

Try this

Settings> Siri & Search > press side button for Siri - OFF.

I have listen for hey siri on and allow Siri when locked. That should disable the side button plus keep Siri on
