Just another vote of thanks to nzbullet and unlockit.co.nz...

With today's Telecom announcement are you guys going to ask them for some royalties??? After all, if it weren't for you and your great little .ipcc files, we wouldn't be able to have our iPhones work with XT at all.

Thanks again!

just off to sign up ...

sethw, incorrect, it will work regardless but the carrier file makes it work better.

Or as Paul Brislen put it, "jiggery-pokery"

Quite correct - wouldn't want to mislead anyone here...  those .ipcc files just make it work like it should.

Is it just me, or does Mr Brislen appear to have gone ominously quiet over the last few hours???

Do you think the Vodafone marketing team are 'in a meeting'?

Yup, had a workmate say XT doesn't support PXT! Here are my PXT settings

MMS
APN internet.telecom.co.nz (also tried wap.telecom.co.nz)
username <blank>
password <blank>
MMSC http://lsmmsc.xtra.co.nz
MMS Proxy 210.55.11.73:80 (also tried 8080 and no port)
MMS Max Message Size 614400

This is incorrect. Telecom do support PXT. The settings in the Carrier Bundle are correct.

These are the settings:
MMS
APN wap.telecom.co.nz
username
password
MMSC http://lsmmsc.xtra.co.nz
MMS Proxy 210.55.11.73:8080
MMS Max Message Size 614400

At the moment there is a WAP outage with Telecom since 13:10 today which is causing issues with PXT. The issue is still not resolved and I was not given an ETA.

Still not working for me, might pop into a Telecom shop tomorrow, perhaps it's something to do with my account.

exportgoldman do you have access to normal internet via internet.telecom.co.nz APN? The WAP APN *should* be pre provisioned in your phone.

Hi

Just a dumb question, but can I install this carrier file while still on the Vodafone network, to jump between the 2 networks? I want to "try before I buy" on the XT network.

Possibly just a question to anyone else on this forum. I am considering changing from Vodafone to XT, are the performance benefits really that great? And if so, is it not maybe because the XT network has got practically nobody on it, compared to Vodafone anyway? And will the XT network not become just as saturated as Vodafone?

Cheers,

3G speeds depend on cell tower congestion. Seemingly it varies from place to place, however XT does seem to have an advantage.

I'd confirm with nzbullet or someone else on the carrier file issue, but I'm fairly sure it won't cause any harm.

Yes you can install the Carrier file when on Vodafone and when you put in your XT Sim Card in it will know to use the XT Settings and when you replace the XT sim back with Vodafone's Sim it will go back to Vodafone Settings.

When I first changed over from CDMA to XT, I had missing info on my account that enabled Data/MMS/WAP so it would be a good idea to get that checked.
