Has anyone who ordered direct from Apple got a shipping notification yet?
Mine's due to arrive tomorrow, but still says 'Preparing for Shipment'.

Mine says the same, but so does a case I ordered today that is also due tomorrow.
I ordered through Spark and I just got my tracking number at 9am.
Just got email from Vodafone about my order is on its way.

I got my order update from Vodafone about two hours after you got yours, chiefie, so I hope I get my tracking number soon!
gmanp: For those that ordered from Apple - you'll get your update and tracking number at about 8pm.

Were you notified by email or txt message?

Does this apply to all models? How did you find this out? Mines not on "preparing for shipment" yet so I don't know what to expect
I think this applies to those who managed to secure an order that delivers tomorrow. For Jet Black or high demand models, or if you were even a few minutes late to preorder you might be waiting longer. Your Apple order should show an expected delivery date.

From buying iPhones via Apple a couple of times, and freaking out that I wasn't getting mine on the Friday both times.
Both times I got the alert at 8pm Thursday that it had shipped (i.e. 6pm Sydney time - end of Apple's business day), then you go and look at the shipping status and it looks strange - like it's been edited and steps are missing.
Apple are very good at this, if your status page says 'expected delivery 16/9' then I'd be very confident that you're getting your phone tomorrow.

Sorry, yes - that's what I meant. If your order status says an expected delivery of 16/9, don't worry if it hasn't flicked over to Preparing For Shipment. That's normal for iPhone pre-orders and it'll change to shipped tonight.
Shipping and tracking number received from Spark. Not picked up by courier yet. Should hopefully arrive tomorrow.
Any fellow 2degrees orderers here? I haven't received anything in the way of confirmation yet.
@gmanp is correct, from experience you get your shipping notification about 8pm the night before release. You then think how can it leave Sydney at 8pm, get to Auckland and then onto where it is being delivered around the country in time for 16th delivery. I've no idea but they always manage it. Mine has to go Sydney - Auckland - Nelson or Christchurch then Blenheim and always arrives on the day. Chances are it is already in Auckland and shipped this week. As others pointed out Apple is VERY good at this. You'd think DHL would slip up and deliver some early but they don't.
A good sign that it has shipped from Apple is to check your Apple Support Profile. If your devices are listed then it's pretty much a given they have shipped. My profile now shows x2 7 Plus' but like others I still see preparing for shipment. https://supportprofile.apple.com/
This is for Apple NZ direct orders only, no idea how the Telcos do things.
