One of the benefits of Airpods is that they'll probably last many years so if you buy a pair now then you probably won't need another pair when you eventually buy your next iPhone.

The wired headphones, on the other hand, had a limited lifespan because the cable eventually breaks or frays.

Assuming, of course, the Airpod battery lasts many years and/or you don't misplace one of them.

Have you got any constructive comment or are you just here to.... I wont say it.

Ill say it. Why do Sky haters feed in the Sky threads? Why do Apple haters feed in the Apple threads?

Batman: I still don't get the glass back. Won't it be rather slippery?

According to the stuff I have read it is required for wireless charging.

My iPhone 4 had a glass back... I don't remember having any issue with it.

Yep the glass is required for wireless charging, also in theory the glass should be less slippery as it enables greater surface contact and has less imperfections and surface indentations to harbour contaminants and grease etc.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I always use a case, a folio type one, so that's no go for wireless charging? Its wireless so surely must be ok with a case?

@tdgeek I used to keep my Galaxy S7 Edge in a case and it charged OK on the Samsung fast charge stand so I guess the iPhones should be good to go.

The glass used in the iphone 7 is twice as tough as the previous model, so experts are suggesting the glass in the 8 model is even tougher. Read this earlier in smh.com.au

No, not really happy with that either.  Everything in the iPhone (original) was available in existing devices, including apps (plus you didn't need to buy a new version to get video support).  They only really brought in a modern interface, and that hasn't really changed in 10 years

So if the interface hasn't really changed in 10 years and everyone else is using it then what does that tell ya!

Next years iphone 9 will have all the features of the X plus more, and it will be cheaper. I have an iphone 7 and will wait for the iphone 9 as the X is way over priced.

My point was that if they really wanted to embrace this change, they would have included the headphones in the box on their flagship model, rather than the lightning plug compromise

mattwnz:

I can see your point, however the cost price of accessories is relatively minor, compared to the price increase on this new iphone X. Especially as they want to advertise these earbuds as the future. I hardly see anyone using them, possibly also because of the cost, but also because they don't look great. If they were black, then that would improve them 100%. The iphone originally did include accessories like a dock, which they later removed, as it is an area they can increase their margins, as accessories are usually always far higher margin. Don't know if it decreases the selling price of the device though doing this.

I'm confused with your contradictory posts.  One post you are arguing that they should have included Airpods in the box and the next you slate them?  Which option, if any, would satisfy you?  Or is it more satisfying to just complain? ;-)

I am not sure about that, as it look like apple may move into two different lines, like they did with the ipad, where they could charge more for their 'pro' line, which is essentially what they have done this year. But not sure if they could keep the old iphone 6-8 LCD screen and big forhead and chin model going for another year, unless it becomes the SE replacement.. I suspect it will be OLED but not edge to edge and notched. They also have a bit of a problem with their numbering, as they have skipped 9, but going to X. I suspect the next ones will be based on the X name.
