I must stop looking at the iPhone Ten, I must stop looking at the iPhone Ten, I must stop looking at the iPhone Ten. It keeps drawing me in. The more  I look at info on it the more I like it.

Next years iphone 9 will have all the features of the X plus more, and it will be cheaper. I have an iphone 7 and will wait for the iphone 9 as the X is way over priced.

This is the plan yup.

My point was that if they really wanted to embrace this change, they would have included the headphones in the box on their flagship model, rather than the lightning plug compromise

mattwnz:

I can see your point, however the cost price of accessories is relatively minor, compared to the price increase on this new iphone X. Especially as they want to advertise these earbuds as the future. I hardly see anyone using them, possibly also because of the cost, but also because they don't look great. If they were black, then that would improve them 100%. The iphone originally did include accessories like a dock, which they later removed, as it is an area they can increase their margins, as accessories are usually always far higher margin. Don't know if it decreases the selling price of the device though doing this.

I'm confused with your contradictory posts.  One post you are arguing that they should have included Airpods in the box and the next you slate them?  Which option, if any, would satisfy you?  Or is it more satisfying to just complain? ;-)

You didn't read my posts properly. I never said they looked good. It is the techonolgy that apple say is teh future, so IMO they should have backed this up by including them, as very few people will ever buy them at the price they are selling them at, and the technology of those earbud is the reason for removing the headphone jack. They also don't look good in their current form. I have seen black ones and they look 100% better.

And I feel you didn't get the point of my post either but perhaps we should just leave it at that.

No, not really happy with that either.  Everything in the iPhone (original) was available in existing devices, including apps (plus you didn't need to buy a new version to get video support).  They only really brought in a modern interface, and that hasn't really changed in 10 years

So if the interface hasn't really changed in 10 years and everyone else is using it then what does that tell ya!

Exactly. I like the grid based layout. I can get to any app I want pronto.

I use apps, I dont play wif me fone

I don't mind the grid layout, but the problem I find is the way it doesn't allow you to only have a few icons on the homepage, and place them exactly where you want them. Also the folders are too small, you can only fit in 9 icons per page. I like the way android does it, with the app draw, and you can then move the icons you use th most onto the main screens and have multiple versions. With ios, you often have to search for the icon, unless you remember exactly where it is.

Maybe you need to explain what you mean in your posts, rather than picking on me and accusing me of complaining for the sake of it, and not having anything positive to add to the conversation. I think I was very clear in my posts, and they weren't contradictory, and people have different opinions and thoughts to add to the conversation.

It sounds like there isn't much you like based on your previous few posts so maybe if you like android so much you should buy one and leave this thread for constructive comments tongue-out

This is an iPhone 8/X Impressions thread not a general "I hate iPhone and everything it does and my Android phone is much better" thread.

I have used both.... there are pros and cons to both.... I don't say Android phones are crap on android threads, even though I could list lot of things I don't like about them. I leave those threads to people that have interest in them. End of rant.

I never look for an icon, I search. Drag down type one letter and it shows what I want, I assume it guesses based on past use. Your other suggestions are good ones

I use both too, hence why I can be objective in how they can improve it. Apple though have borrowed a lot from android, so ios is a lot more android these days. eg the notifications, widgets, and the control  centre. My iphone is also my main phone. It seems that some people see any critique, as being anti something. If you work in the design field, you will know that critiques are infact how things get improved.

Usually I put them in folders and remember where the icon is, but have to sometimes revert to searching. What would be great is if ios allowed you to have multiple icons (eg similar to windows shortcuts) which allowed you to have icons in multiple folders.

critique is fine but yours didn't come across as objective... only negative so far.

Phones are personal, every user will have a view based on their usage and experience. Their view is not wrong, just different.
