JEDENZED: I couldn't take it anymore so I rang Apple and spoke with Stephanie in Australia. She advises they aren't shipping out until tonight but to the best of her knowledge they are coming from a warehouse in Auckland. She assured me that I was still on track for day-one delivery but that I may not receive courier notification until tomorrow morning (but may get one this evening).

Feeling *a bit* better now... This stress isn't good for my lumbago...

Let's track down the warehouse and storm it!

This is the fun bit of getting a new Apple phone - all the waiting and the speculating. I joined Geekzone when I ordered my iPhone 5 so I could participate in that thread, so I am feeling all nostalgic now :o)

zocster: Mine came from Vodafone business account manager. Good to know they look after their business customers

How come you have 3 phones and 2 tablets on your signature? Do you use all 3 currently?

Hmm I carry 2, one on Vodafone one on Spark, the rest on WIFI for my mood swings lol

Lol. i like how you roll. Well, since you use both Note + iPhone - if you had to take 1 on a deserted island with you.. which one would it be? (basically note 4 vs iPhone). I am getting the iPhone 6s+ from a Note 4 so would like to know your thoughts since you use both.

I'm on ios fever at the moment. So I am a bit biased. One thing I learned so far. There is no loyalty in smartphone business lol.

I know what you mean.. So far, no android company has convinced me to buy their flagship twice in a row. whereas iPhone does indeed make things better with each iteration. but it could be that they dont have any other competition in the iOS world - users only have to choose between iphone 6 & 6+ or 5c.

Yes, you cant get the new iphones without signing up to a plan on any network. No contract though, open term.

Sorry not at all up to speed on the 6S and couldn't find anything flicking through the thread (admittedly quickly). What's the go with that? My sister was looking to pick one up retail but they will only sell with a new plan. Is this a temporary measure while stock is tight or is that the way forward for some reason?

Yes, same as every other year, none of the Telco's will have stock for outright purchase at launch until stock levels start to become steady. (often a couple months)

If you want to purchase out right I would recommend ordering from the Apple website with couple weeks shipment time.

Ok sweet, thanks for that :) While I did own a 3GS, I've never had any dealings with the new iPhone rush!

Yes, all the phones originate from China, but the pre-orders with the 25/9 delivery date are apparently now sitting in a local warehouse ready for shipping tomorrow (hooray!). In the message you linked they mention "Asia Pac" which is short for Asia Pacific region, which generally includes Australia and New Zealand, so they could have meant they are here or in Sydney.

I am going to be a pair of wide-open eyeballs in a dark room, cartoon-style, all night tonight, lol.

Pretty sure mine have come from Sydney in the past. NZ is part of Asia Pacific, so there is nothing to say in that proof image there is not stock in NZ, even if it is unlikley.

Given that this is the first time NZ has been in the first wave, I'd suggest Apple will be taking at least some extra care to ensure those scheduled for day-one delivery will receive them in a timely fashion.

Added to that the fact that I actually spoke with an apple associate in Australia who advised that stock is in a warehouse in Auckland, and the point that all of us Apple-direct customers are still awaiting shipping notifications, the logical answer is that they are indeed here in NZ already and will, as advised, be shipping out this evening.
