Such a shame you won't actually notice anything. It's amazing how Apple con people into buying their products...

Funny how you use the word "con", because that pretty much sums up marketing in a nut shell.

I find the best products don't need flashy marketing, they basically sell themselves. I find that most things that have to be advertised on TV, are things that I don't want or need, but some of the marketing can be pretty persuasive. That is how people end up with knives or saucepans that they don't need, nor are any better than you can buy in the shop, but may cost a lot more as you are paying for that layer of marketing overhead. Apple are the kings of marketing, but that in the past has been backed up by good quality and innovative products.

So you never saw the gimmicy release for the S4 then? They are all guilty of persuading us to buy a new phone because it is marginally better.

I don't understand what 64 bit will actually do and I don't think many people actually would.

rm79: So any idea from when iphone 5s and cheap(C) are going on sale in NZ and what's the price for an unlocked one.

Rahul

5c is cheap? My as$ hole lol.. in other countries, the price for the 5c is approx over 6-700 dollars (NZ)! And I really can't see it being any cheaper when it is here in NZ!

I am guessing the C in 5C is for colour, I am not sure Apples marketing would ever mention the word cheap, I think pre-release the C has been coined as cheap, and Apple are going to have some work to do to change that.

I'll notice the bigger screen.
I'll notice the additional storage space (since I'm getting a bigger one).
I may notice the fingerprint scanner, depending on how well it works.
I may notice DC-HSDPA if it makes much of a difference.
I'll certainly notice LTE when Telecom gets around it deploying it.

Anything else to not notice? :P

Most of which you could have noticed one year ago with the 5.

I will be upgrading from a 4 to a 5S, actually looking forward to it although at the actual time of dropping down some cash I might change my mind again, the 4 is just fitting my needs so nicely I probably don't feel the need to be conned into another phone that will last me 3+ years.

Yet the S4 provides numerous useful, functional improvements over the S3. Longer battery life, higher resolution display (plus a slightly larger screen without increasing the overall device size - in fact, the S4 is marginally smaller and lighter than the S3), wifi ac, better camera, and air view for starters, not to mention the improved performance and responsiveness. I wouldn't say the S4 is only marginally better - it is significantly better.

I wonder how many actual, noticeable improvements over the 5 the 5s will provide. No, I think this is more targeting 4/4S owners who want to move to the new flagship, more than 5 owners.

I think most iOS users, at least in the US, are on 2-year upgrade cycles so that makes sense.

Oh yes, most likely. I was just referring to what he thought was cheap. :)

They only thing i like is the fingerprint Login option, could do with that on my S3 but won't be changing to apple any time soon.

Also good to note Apple are not the first to do this, Motorola did it on a previous hand set but Google obviously has not thought it a needed feature. laptop wise I have heard of many security holes in fingerprint readers.

Still no NFC.

I think they have also improved the camera a lot on the 5s, and the new flash and slow mo features are a great addition. I just don't know who wouldn't buy the 5s over the 5c, considering under contract in the US, the 32GB 5c is the same price as the 16GB 5s. I think it is false economy in a way to go for the 5c, as the 5s with the A7 64bit chip will likely be supported for longer with future iOS versions. So potentially the 5s should last longer, not to mention the difference in build quality between the two. I just think that apple have made a mistake with teh 5c, at least in offshore marekts. Although in the US, many people on contracts will simple just upgrade to the 5c from the 4s or 4 for $99 on contract and see their old 4s or 4 for $99. So effectively they pay nothing for a new version, apart from the amount they are paying for the contract.
