I have read about this problem, and it seems quite common. How do you know that the new ones won't have the same problem, seeing they are so new? Couldn't it be software related that could be fixed later on with a software update?

Some reports say that Apple is preparing a software update....not sure how that works ...

I don't know that the replacements won't be the same, but I wanted a case logged quickly enough so that it would be considered a DOA rather than potentially going through a repair process. If they had said they were working on a software fix I would have been happy to wait, but they suggested just replacing them. So we'll see I guess.

Interestingly enough I did some testing last night, and while there was still some drain from the case it was not as bad as the previous couple of days. Not sure if that means anything? Maybe getting better after several charge/discharge cycles?

Can anyone else who has the AirPods chime in on whether or not they are noticing battery drain from the case (other than when recharging the AirPods, obviously)? Would be especially keen to hear from someone who's got them from the first shipment as you've had them the longest.

So the general consensus is that if the EarPods fit ok then the AirPods will fit too?

Any strange looks from people while wearing them?!

The bits that go in your ear look and feel the same size as the EarPods to me. The only difference is that the "stalk" bit is noticably thicker on the AirPods.

I haven't been game enough to wear them in public yet!

In my opinion the airpods fit more snugly than the normal ones....only way for them to come out is if you take them out.

For those that have issues with them falling out I saw these a while back when they were out of stock on amazon.

There is just no real pattern to this battery case issue.

Fully charged them last night, them left unplugged overnight. Checked this morning and AirPods were 100%, case was 99% - not so bad. Didn't use them at all and checked a few hours later, AirPods 100% and case 92%. So went all night and lost 1%, but then lost 7% in just a couple of hours.

ETA on replacement still saying 16 February, but they expect me to send these ones back 11 January.

No, I just always have the socket on the phone die after a few years meaning that it gets a loose connection so it interprites that as unplugging it or pressing the button. I really hope that the USB C plug is more robust against contact against it pushing it around when in a pocket than the horrid 3.5mm plug.

Delivery estimate for replacement has changed to 5 January, so I'm very pleased about that.

Here's hoping I'm not unlucky enough to get two faulty ones in a row - if I did I think I'd have to have a little cry!

I've been out walking around reserves and parks and I'm sure people have been saying hello to me as they walk past me on the track. I don't hear them and they think I'm ignoring them because they can't see that I have headphones in.

Some users are apparently managing to resolve the battery issue by resetting the AirPods.

http://www.macrumors.com/2017/01/02/airpods-reset-charging-case/

I had already tried this, and unfortunately it didn't help in my case. But it is interesting that this has worked for some users as it points to a software issue.

At least I have received far better customer support in regards to getting a replacement than the guy referenced in the above article.

@jonherries can I ask what devices you have, as I'm wondering if it is only affecting AirPods connected to particular devices. I synced mine to my iPhone 7 128GB, but note that the AirPods automatically show up under bluetooth devices on my iPad Air 2 128GB as well which is registered to the same iCloud account.
