CYaBro: Those that have one now, can you confirm you still have to swipe away the lock screen with Face ID? Can this be turned off so it goes straight to the home screen after detecting your face and unlocking the device?
Seems a bit silly that you still have to swipe up to get the home screen after Face ID has done it’s thing.

Can you guys access the control center when you have an app open?

Mine only brings down the notifications screen when I swipe down from the right hand side when I’m in an app

Yes I can access the control centre when using any app, via swiping down from around where the battery icon is.

There is a setting under Settings - Control Centre - Access Within Apps, toggle this on.

Hmm on my 7 Plus I used to have the News widget show news headlines from NZ Herald, radioNZ, stuff.co.nz (without me having to configure anything)

However on my X, which came preinstalled with the News App (which only works for Aus, US, UK news feeds).

The News Widget is showing me headlines from US news sites, how do I change it to NZ sites, like I had on my 7plus?

Sorry to say I don't know but mine was NZ by default. Do you have location services on?

Yea, I fixed it, by changing my region to something else, then back to New Zealand.

Settings-->General-->Language & Region

Just received mine from Spark Digital.

Have only just finished restore so haven't had much of a play yet. Overall looks very nice.

The only thing I REALLY don't like is how cumbersome closing background apps is. Once you are in the app switcher you have to hold down on an app until the little red minus symbols appear, then click those to close apps. I can only assume it was decided that since swiping up returns you to the home screen that it would be confusing for the swipe up when in the app switcher to also close apps. Bad call in my opinion.

EDIT: OK, once you have held your finger on an app until the red minus appears, you can swipe up to close. Still not as good as it could be, but better than I originally thought.

EDIT 2: For those interested, it arrived with iOS 11.1 (I understand the first shipment had 11.0.3). Unfortunately I had already updated my old phone to 11.1.1, still still had to upgrade the X before I could restore.

Pretty happy with it!

The last iPhone I liked this much was the iPhone 4.

If I could change one thing, it would be the blue shift when you look at the display from an angle, but that's what you get with OLED, so I can live with it.

My friends one arrived today and I think I was more excited than he was. I would absolutely buy one if it wasn't for the price... That's really the barrier here.

Had some issues with setting it up, but it was because my friend was running the Beta, so he had to install the beta profile on the X and everything was able to restore no problems.

That's a 5W charger so the same as the one in the box (no fast charging). Also, steer clear of no name/"OEM" brand charging bricks - they're a disaster waiting to happen.

It is unnecessary to close background apps. iOS is extremely efficient at managing resources.

Anyone else finding wireless charging very slow?

My phone barely increases in charge with an hour on my wireless charger.

It is a 7.5w one.
