gehenna: Any reason why I can't see TVNZ7 in my list of channels to add to my main page?   I see it in the screenshot above...

All I have in my options list is:

1, 2, 3, C4, Prime, CTV, Maori, Discovery, BOX, Sky Movies, Sky Movies2, Sky Sport1, Sky Sport2

So I don't seem to have a few Freeview channels...and seeing as TVNZ 7 is showing in the list on that screenshot I wonder if there's anything else I'm missing?  I've got the latest version (I think - nzGuide is the name, there's no updates in the App Store that I can see or have been notified about).

At the moment it is still v1.1, the update is not quite ready yet (waiting for Apple). Once you can update to 1.2 you will see TVNZ7 and more.

Cheers

I made a purchase of this a couple of days ago for my iPod Touch, it's convenient but I won't totally agree with the price tag of NZ$5.29. Sure it is a price of a burger, and another TV guide sort of app is for free (for Netherland).

It is "okay" for what it is doing, BUT it is very slow, and erratic. It doesn't scroll with you want it to, or it has some weird very slow respond to the touch. And it would be nice if the EPG is cached for the session instead of constant request. It is understandable if it doesn't store when quit, but if it doesn't cache while/when you're still in the app and moving/changing orientation require a re-request to the server and re-render of the whole look? That's very slow!!!

Also, there's no Sky Movie 2 now, and the listing supposedly for Sky Movie+2 is for Sky Movie Greats, but I am sure the next version is in work to rectify this minor issue?

Also, I see that TVNZ7 is coming on next version, but will TVNZ6 and TVNZ Sports Extra too? And the ability to reorder the channels list to the order we individually preferred?

As at the moment, I'm trying to scroll the channels up and down, no respond. It is like the app is not responding to the touch interface at all.

I do hope there's major update and bug fixes for the next version, otherwise it isn't as good purchase as I'd hope for. Shame that one cannot get a trial version to try on first, and neither can one get a refund for undesired purchase.

Keep us in loop if there's major improvement made.

Chiefie, I was also getting the same issue with it momentarily freezing (well more like 10-15secs)

version 1.2 is now available on the app store.

I've upgraded it... but sad to say, it is STILL very buggy and it has crashed numerous time when I try to add "channels", and the sorting... It DOESN'T save what I last arranged... I gave up trying to reorder to my preference as it is too dumb to retain my sorting order!!!! Oh and it is still very very slow, but better than version 1.0 though.

My experiences are the same as what Chiefie has experienced.

A great concept very badly executed. I'm just glad I got it when it was cheaper.

C'mon Orsome - you need to sort this out!!

Sorry guys but I have to say I have had no problems with it whatsoever.
Perhaps try a reinstall of the app.

I have reinstalled it and it is NOT working as intended and certainly frustrate me more, everytime I use it... It is now uninstalled to save myself some sanity... and wish I had not purchase it. Apple App Store SERIOUSLY need a trial option... this exercise has taught me not to buy anything from App Store, it left sour taste and not risking" to make any quick purchases any time sooner... plus with the remote kill-switch, it takes out the sense of buying Apps.

I can vouch for Orsome and say that they are working on getting the issues/bugs resolved.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apple App Store SERIOUSLY need a trial option...

I agree, I think it would be a good option, maybe a trial period or 7 day cancellation period.

this exercise has taught me not to buy anything from App Store, it left sour taste and not risking" to make any quick purchases any time sooner...

Just becasue something has bugs doesn't mean you should never buy anything again from the App Store. Seriously, based on that statement you would *never* buy any software or OS (beit Windows or Mac) again? After all they are full of bugs, which generally get resolved with updates.

plus with the remote kill-switch, it takes out the sense of buying Apps.

The "remote kill switch" is there to protect people from malicious apps, Apple won't use it unless they feel the app is going to cause serious damage. If an app was going to brick your iPhone would you not want Apple to pull it before it has a chance to do it's thing?? I actually like knowing they have that there.

Yes Apple need to pull their finger out and sort out the App Store, the verification/submission process and a number of other issues. And sure you can say we shouldn't have to pay for an app or software that is sub-standard, but unfortunately that is life. I am sure the Apps and the App Store will get fixed soon enough and hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

IMHO

The sour taste is with the inadequate option to trial an app before plonking dollars for it when it is substandard quality. Which is the exercise that taught me to avoid to purchase another App until there is a safe and clear way to try out an app before paying! Nowhere did my statement make any reference to desktop OS, and even if so, I have been lucky to obtain copy of beta OSes and Applications to try out before making my purchase. So again, your analogy of my statement is not entirely reflecting my statement about Apple's App Store and its lack of trial version.

I do agree with you that there should be a trial system of some sorts, but until there is we just have to deal with it. I will say that a lot of Developers are providing "Lite" versions of their apps so you can try them out for free first (although this is more to promote their app), but Apple should come up with something themselves instead of leaving it up to the Devs.

Hey if you choose not to buy an App again because you can't try it first then that's your choice, in my opinion you are missing out, but that's your choice. Sure it might cost you a few bucks or the price of a cup of coffee to find out, but there are some great apps/games on the App Store that are well worth paying for without trying first, like Picoli, Convertor, Koi Pond and heaps more I could list.

I think the app is great.  Sure, theres a couple of quirks that need to be ironed out, but I have very little trouble with it in day-to-day use.

I'm happy to have paid the small price asking for it and to be gaining value from it, which indeed I am.
