I did a little more testing and had the same experience - in an area with 3G coverage, the fake apn works (stops data). Safari gives the somewhat unusual error "Safari could not open the page because the server stopped responding" which is the first time I've seen that particular error, but appears to happen consistently with when using the fake apn with good 3G coverage. It just sits there trying to load the page until it times out after upwards of 30 seconds unlike with "PDP auth failure" when using www.iphone-vodafone.net.nz apn which appears fails quickly.

Tried turning off 3G, and data works again with the fake apn. Tried using the www.vodafone.net.nz profile, and as expected, data also works.

Remove profiles, and again, data doesn't work (on prepay).

With all profiles deleted I still am using data (gprs) even though I am not able to connect to
internet. I just hope that although data usage increases, vodafone is not charging me.
I am on prepay so will have to check money remaining..

This is what seems to happen

with non Iphone data plan and GPRS

www.vodafone.net.nz - Data Works
www.iphone-vodafone.net.nz - Data Not Work
invalid APN - Data Works

ok. just need someone to test

Iphone Dataplan with 3G and GRPS.. which is quite important.. If you can't disable data on the 3G iphone now that would be strange... (Well you can't by default anyway unless you turn on airplane mode but they youd get no calls).

Anyone know how much data an 3G Iphone will go thru if you just leave it turned on for a month doing nothing?

Just Strange vodafone allow an Invalid APN... on GRPS (or if anyone knows how things work at Vodafone can comment). the FakeAPN seems to work(work as in actually disabling data) with 3G AND GPRS in other countries who have tried it...

Hi all...

I have tried using the unlockit.co.nz site - nothing seems to work.

Gen 1 , with a fresh PWNAGE 2.01 install. Have lloked at this thread and also tried the FAKE and no luck.

On a BRAND NEW SIM , have not applied Carrier settings that iTunes want me to apply - still no go

Am I missing something?

Does the First option that applies www.vodafone.net.nz require a username and password, as I am not putting anything in

All fixed - in their wisdom VF now "apparently" need to activate GPRS data on PREPAY sims - never heard of this before, have you guys.

Maybe due to any APN (even blank) under GPRS (but not 3G) allows Data (and lots of $$) then decided to turn it off for some cards after a certain date? (is your card new??)

or I may be talking complete cr*p

Data is active by default and does not need to activated

May have been requested to be deactiavted at one point

hey guys.... just wanting to know on the updates on the casual data rate for the iphone users out there....

is it working out just as you guys had anticipated to work? just dollar per day up to 10mb of data? and what can you actually do with 10mb? :)

No , this is a BRAND NEW SIM as purchased LAST NIGHT from the Warehouse. VF actually told me when I rang them today that the SIM required activation for GPRS. Now also, I am a corporate VF customer with a corp account manager - when she looked ta the SIM details in the system GPRS was "INACTIVE"

Once the customer service person activated it - I was receiving mail within seconds!

Hi everyone,

You guys have done some serious leg-work and I think you all for that. I'm thinking about getting an iphone 3g and was wondering if ATT allows you to remove the data plan (yes I am cheap). My plan after that was to use this APN converter so that I can disable all internet data transfers except my own wi-fi. Does this APN configuration work for the ATT version of the iphone 3g to disable data from their network?

I'm in the same boat.. 1 gen iphone on the 2.0 firmware. I have a data plan but none of the 3 profiles work?

Thanks for the great tool... the profiles at unlockit.co.nz have worked perfectly for myself and some fellow workmates on 3G iphones with non-data plans.

One quick question however - is there a quick and easy way to completely disable all mobile data on the iPhone, WITHOUT changing the APN profile again?
